Huge slap in the dong to the Jay program.

Same school
Same "values"
One is in a power conference
One is in a low-major conference
One is 20 hour away by car
One is 20 minutes away by car.

Maybe he doesn't want to live his whole life to this point in Omaha.

Say you were elite at your job, wanted to leave the town you're in. The best company in your field wants you to move there, but also a pretty good company in your field wants you to stay in the town you're tired of, where you going?

Just typical chooses the best team. Kids don’t want to work and make a team better these days.

It's funny how the Big East absolutely sucks to high Heaven until there's a blowharding opportunity, then it's suddenly a power conference!

Yeah...I would not pick Spokane but if I could do my job anywhere I would totally pick a place other than Omaha...

It is considered a power conference, isn't it? Or is it a mid-major?

WCC is low-major for sure.

A much bigger slap in the dong is that he didn't even consider Nebraska.

False. It's called reality, and I think we have a pretty tight grasp on it when it comes to Nebraska basketball. The fact that we have a 5 star of our own who is arguably better than Sallis is just fine. Go away.

Reality is that the highest rated recruit ever in Nebraska and one of the top 10 in the country didn't even consider NU......and he had like 10 finalists.

Big East is a high major for basketball. There have been 8 seasons where a current Big East team has won or was the runner up for the national championship since 1997. The Big Ten has 9 such seasons.

If your team has a Big East team on their non conference schedule, no one is calling it a mid-major opponent.

Yep. In hoops, it’s not P5, it’s P6

Most years I consider it more of a power conference than the Pac-12, and some years more so than the SEC or then Big Ten. But then, I don't repeatedly take a dump on the Big East and then try to call it a power conference only when it's convenient to do so.

Very smart decision...go play for a proven winner, who is not a sleazebag like the guys at KU and UK, or a racist like the guy at Creighton....in a conference that you will dominate in, and get to travel to beautiful places like Malibu and San Diego and Utah. And you'll be guaranteed to make the NCAA tournament.

Spokane isn't the most exciting place, but he only plans to be there for 1 year, maybe 2 at most...it's not like he's setting down roots there.

Gonzaga reminds me of the old UCLA teams under Wooden. All five guys can play defense, run, rebound, shoot and most notably — make crisp passes that are NBA-caliber. They have a great coach, obviously. However, a one and done kid might make a mistake to go there because their personal stats would not be maxed out.

I've sold homes in Omaha for 20 years and helped many families relocate from many locations to Omaha. After living here for a few years they would have the opportunity to relocate for another job and OFTEN they would decline to move because they came to love Omaha. Omaha isn't the most fun place to live but it's a great place to live and raise a family.

I have lived in 7 different states and have discovered that the environment in Omaha is hard to match in many ways. People are drawn to different aspects of a place, but I wouldn't short change Omaha. MANY military families come back to Omaha after their service is up because of the experience they had here. Omaha has it's flaws and shortcomings but year after year it RANKS HIGH in the polls of places people like to live.

Yeah, agreed. That was my point. He dissed a high major conference for a low major conference.

Oh no, neither would I. I really like it here, the ONLY thing that I would look for would be a place with less winter.

By the way, are you having a hard time even counting your cash right now with the way home sales are going???

Spokane ranks pretty high in places to live as well. Also Gonzaga basketball in that part of the state is KING where here Nebraska Football is KING.

Also Gonzaga plays big boys in the non-con

One thing to remember is that all these kids think they are one and done.

The reality of the situation is that 90% will get feedback from NBA scouts and GM's that they don't want to hear.

"Need to work on your left". few HS stars want to hear that

"Need to improve your jumper" few HS stars want to hear that

"Not a natural leaper" Uh oh

"Not long enough" Well...we have all heard that one.

Too much talent coming back next year for Gonzaga for Sallis to be the feature, plus likely getting #1 recruit in Holmgren from the Twin Cities. Unless he goes G-league sooner, I see him 3 years in Spokane.

Yeah, agreed. That was my point. He dissed a high major conference for a low major conference.

He dissed Kansas and Kentucky and UNC and Duke for the low major school too. I don't think it is that big of a deal. Basketball is a different animal than football. I think too many are trying to equate Sallis move to a big time Nebraska high school football player leaving the state. Gonzaga is a big boy program in college basketball regardless of conference affiliation. I can't think of an equivalent in college football. Perhaps a school like Cincinnati will be that school someday.
