I hope very active. Hoiberg is a proven winner as a coach and any call to have his seat get hot is silly. Nebraska is historically one of the worst, if not THE worst P5 basketball program in history. Any success for progress is going to be a very long haul project where we take very small steps forward and patience is key. We were damn lucky to land a coach of his caliber and I hope he is given a very long leash.

Hoiberg might want to take a look at Taeshon Cherry, who's leaving Arizona State. He's 6'8" and about 225, but not really a post player - more of a pick-and-pop guy. But he has enough size to defend in the post, so he might be a fit for Hoiberg's offense while also providing a little more size defensively than what NU has now.

Not going to be much left of Arizona State's roster once the dust clears. Could be that playing for a screaming, petulant toddler wears on players after a while.

I think they would take 3 transfers. If a 4th opens up they might take a H.S. guy.

Nebraska is listed a LOT as a school showing interest in portal kids.

I agree with everything you said........ kind of.

Hoiberg hasn't led a team to a winning season since 2014-15. in 11 seasons as a head man, he's finished with a winning record 4 times.

'proven winner' might be a little strong, considering his record.

You can't really argue with the facts, but if you followed Hoiberg's tenure with the Bulls you know he basically had no chance to win there. John Paxson has a "job for life" card and he's pretty much incompetent and has f---ed every coach he's ever hired with roster chaos. When Hoiberg was there they tried to thread the needle between competing and rebuilding and they saddled him with an unhappy Jimmy Butler, Rajon Rondo and a completely done Dwayne Wade. The Bulls have been a mess since you-know-who left.

And.. then he came to Nebraska. I wonder how long it took him to wake up in the morning, look at the ceiling, and say to himself.... "Oh god, why did I take this job?" But yeah, I think both Hoiberg and Frost had outsized reputations based on VERY small windows of success.

100% agree with his Bulls tenure, as well as the state of that org. it all starts up top with Jerry Reinsdorf, who may simultaneously be the dumbest and luckiest owner in all of sports.

As a Royals fan I'm hoping Reinsdorf's really weird hire of La Russa as the White Sox manager blows up in his face. They're loaded so it probably won't.

Carr isn't leaving Minnesota to go to Nebraska...he's going to a blue-blood program to boost his draft stock and try to win a championship. I'd guess Kansas, Kentucky, or Michigan State.
please.

those programs are full.

know what would boost his draft stock? averaging 20+ppg on 14-ish FG attempts at NU and in 'the best basketball conference'.

know what else would boost his draft stock? somehow becoming 3 years younger overnight.

RS Sr tweener guards don't get drafted, whether they come from Duke or anywhere else.

The portal is crazy, I definitely hate it but it's kinda fun at the same time. We've got an offensive coach who wants to run, roster spots and plenty of opportunity. And there are tons of guys on the market. You know we're gonna get SOMEONE.... who will it be???

Carr is too old to be a 1st rd NBA pick. Euro leagues are his best bet

Nobody is going to be too full to add a veteran point guard like Carr.

No, he won't be a first-round pick at his age, but he could get into the 2nd round - look at Cassius Winston, Skylar Mays, DeVonte Graham, Frank Mason, Monte Morris, Marcus Paige - all Senior point guards recently drafted in the 2nd round, after playing for a high-profile team.

And not to mention, he could still choose to enter the draft this year, or go play overseas...he will likely go through the draft process regardless of whether he commits to another school this spring.

This year's portal could assemble a starting five that would compete for a title in a lot of conferences next year. Nobody is happy anymore. That said, I hope we get 3-4 good players as we need them.

Yes you can

And Carr is going to get paid, that is my guess.

Also, he will have his pick of schools.

Carr is sexy, but I want a lunch pail guy like Harrar. Or both. Definitely both.

Or Liam Robbins, with all the other Minnesota players jumping ship, I'm guessing he will too.

I just don't see Carr leaving one bad Big Team to go to another bad Big Ten team. Unless he can join a program that will complete for a National Championship, I would think he would rather go play pro overseas.

Our historic ineptitude actually isn't as historic as you might imagine. We have a better overall winning percentage than both Colorado and Iowa from our past conference affiliation.

In addition, in a stretch of basketball that ran from the 1966 conference season through the 1986 season (21 seasons in all), Nebraska finished in the top half of the Big Eight 16 times and in the bottom half only five times. That included two second-place and eight third-place finishes. But because the NCAA Tournament was so limited in its bids, Nebraska didn't make the tournament until it expanded to 64 teams. And when we did make it in 1986, Dave Hoppen was injured and didn't play.

Then we had the run from 1991-98 when we played in five NCAA Tournaments and won the 1996 NIT championship.

Of course, we didn't win any games in the Dance, and the last 20+ years have been exercises in futility for the most part, but historically there are several Power 5 programs with lower profiles than Nebraska except for one frustrating reality — we haven't won a single game in the Dance.

That's what pissed me off about Northwestern's performance three years ago. First Dance. Win a game. F them.
