Heck of a coach, but wish he was in a role where he could also recruit.

Maybe he’s a full time assistant coach in waiting

That would be nice. Mario moves on to the cigar shop full-time, Frost coaches QB’s and Busch becomes ST coordinator. Dam, now I have my hopes up.

Yes!!!!! This is the guy I wanted. Hell of a coach and recruiter. Good chance he’ll slide into a position coach if a spot becomes available in the future.

Glad to see Busch come back but honestly shocked by his return as an analyst. I imagine he will stay just long enough to get another job as an assistant unless this is setting him up to replace Fish.

So still no special teams guy yet? Or did I miss it?

1. Not a “heck of a coach”
2. Love him coming back as an analyst.

He’s worked with the best of the best. You can’t be a “Meh” level coach doing that. He was also offered the DC job at Boise St. in which he turned down. He’s also a hell of a recruiter. I think he’s a very strong addition to our program.

I just said he’s a strong addition to the program.

He can't be an onroad factor in recruiting though as an analyst. Again I'd think it either is just a "resting spot" until he gets the assistant job he wants OR he is an assistant in waiting when Fish leaves.

I am really hoping it isn’t Fish he replaces. He has coached DB’s a lot, but he also coached OLB’s under Callahan and has been ST coordinator at several stops.

This would work out OK. He can recruit and he'd be a stable addition. He's a Nebraska guy.

I agree he is one heck of a recruiter. He was also a part of coaching some below average defensive backfields

I know nothing about Lowe as a coach, but it’s so damn cool that he’s coming to Nebraska.

I have a feeling he’ll really be able to connect with the kids.

Baby steps.....first things is first😉! In my opinion this is a great hire and show signs of maturity by Frost. I will Frost props when he does things differently.

IF he is allowed to have fair input on development, game planning and types of players to recruit and stay away from then this could be a GREAT HIRE! After Verducci or whateva his name is put out to pasteur then he could be next man up!

He knows what good players look like and has more experience coaching than the entire defensive side of the ball minus Dawson combined.

It was a good hire, but why does it show signs of maturity by Frost?

I imagine Bo fired him at LSU, but of course Bo needed some fall guys for their awful defense.

100% agreed. He's absolutely a recruiting animal & I'm damn glad we got him back to where he should be.

Sherman they all agree with me a lot more than you’ll ever think of.
No way?!?! You have earned so much cred on a message board. I’m calling the world herald to let them know P. Ennis gets listened to on a message board sometimes.

I can see the headline now

I like the idea of Busch using the analyst job as a position holder until a position opens up as others have suggested.

If Nebraska were to lose a coach in the future, I think they could work it so that Busch becomes the ST coach for the following:

>>If Fischer left...Busch would coach special teams & safeties and Chin can take on CB's.
>>If Beckton left...Busch could be the TE&ST coach.
>>If Dawson left...Busch could coach OLB&ST.
>>If Ruud left...Dawson could coach ILB's,Busch would take OLB&ST
>>If Tuioti left..Dawson could coach DL, Busch would take OLB&ST
>>If Mario left..Frost or Lubbick could coach QB's,Busch could coach WR&ST.
>>IF Held left..Busch could coach RB's&ST.

I think OL&the coordinator jobs would be the only jobs where they couldn't work him into ST.

Sipple “hinted” this morning that Dawson may get the ST duties in addition to his work with the LB.

This would would be outstanding news..
If this program wants to start going to bowl games and competing for divisions titles this has to be addressed and fixed ASAP...

I'm good with the idea of Dawson doing the ST too. I just want an on-the-field coach to be leading the charge. Dawson has experience with it as well.

I do think however that Busch could still be a coach-in-waiting as he brings ST experience, talent evaluation&recruiting prowess as well as experience to the equation. He's also a coach that would most likely stay at Nebraska. It's a good fit.

How do you know Bill Busch is not a good coach?
Just curious. You know this how?

Just my opinion after watching him at practice and listening to him speak a few times, as well as discussions with others in the same situation as me. It's entirely possible that he's improved a bunch since then though.
