Are we really pretending beating Rutgers was "progress?"

That game determined the literal last place team in the conference.

The media talking like the team finally broke through, because they outlasted a TERRIBLE football team is really something else.

atleast we did'nt lose, so thats a positive right there, plus rutkers is the oldest college football team, next to ny.
so maybe we could recruit a decent player from ny, they have like 11 million people, surely 1 person in that group could play football

I heard no one in the media portray this win as THE turning point for this program. They've been quite measured in their analysis.

If you assume that we win our 3 preseason games (not a stretch) on our regular season schedule and lose to wisconsin... winning yesterday made us a 6-6 team. Which is a bowl team in a normal year. And an improvement over the last several years.

It's progress. Which is something. You can complain that we aren't as good as we all hope but some of us feel no need to destroy other human beings because they aren't who you hoped they would be.

The second half of the Rutgers game was the best a Nebraska team has played in a very long time. You can do with that what ever you choose.

Rutgers was playing their second or third team QB and had lost three starters at least in the second half!

Yeesh. We have plenty of legit reasons to complain. This isn’t one of them.

600 yards vs Rutgers is the same as 200 yards vs Ohio St.

Cinci was a certain loss and SDSU was a 70% win at the very best. Hell Central Michigan was no automatic as they beat Ohio.

Whatever you want to believe. No reason to believe we couldn't split wisconsin and Cincinnati (both in lincoln) but that's just me.

And sdsu in lincoln? 70% Right. Pull the other one.

We aren't good. We all get that. 6-6 isn't a stretch.

Also known as the QBs who had led them to their only wins in the past two months.

EXCLAMATION POINT!

Versus Rutgers this year:
  • MSU 369 yards
  • Indiana 347
  • Ohio State 517
  • Illinois 442
  • Michigan 496 (three-overtime game)
  • Purdue 412
  • Penn State 381
  • Maryland 458
  • Nebraska 620
It was not a great victory, but the second-half beatdown was a sign of progress, even if it was against bad team.

I am as thoroughly unimpressed with the Frost regime as just about anyone here. But for this program, any conference win is a good win right now.

What were they supposed to do Friday night, travel to New Jersey and beat Iowa or Indiana?

Can you share some of those links saying we broke out?

I see things like the 2nd half was a positive way to end the season.

I agree it isn't some break out or program changing performance, but it certainly is better than losing.

It seems some on here want to turn a win into regression.

I love to win, but it is what it is. I'd like to hold out some glimmer of hope with Frost. Pandemic or no pandemic, he's fielding bad teams. Yes, the 2nd half of the Rutgers game. It will go down in lore.

No.progress was made. Other than playing some worse than us with their back up QB.

And we barely won.

Stop selling your self false hope.

This thread is a perfect example of how impossible it is to please some of "us". Did you want the headlines to be, "DESPITE WIN WE SUCK AND THE FUTURE HOLDS NOTHING BUT FAILURE". Would that please you? If not, what is it exactly that you want?

Interesting. Also worth noting Nebraska finished 4th in the conference in total offense and 7th in total defense.

the primary objective for an offense is to score points not rack up yards

Neb finished 11th in scoring offense

if you are 4th in total offense and 11th in scoring offense something is greatly amiss

Yes there are other statistical categories. You do know that literally no one here is interested in your input.
