I'm not even gonna argue with anyone that think's Nebraska gets treated unfairly by the conference. Whatever. Our level of incompetence is why we suck at football. We get blown out once in awhile, but especially under Frost we lose close game after close game. Our inability to cure basic mistakes that repeat every game are why. I'm sorry, I just don't want to hear whining about refs, schedules, etc. Stop the ******** false starts, bad snaps, stupid play calls, etc. We make winning look WAY harder than it is.

I agree with your take. It's almost like a law of attraction. The bad will continue to attract bad things and that has been our narrative the past 5 years. We need to somehow overcome that. Once we do (If we ever do), I think we'll start seeing less bs calls our way. Or at least those calls won't be so critical to us and we won't be pin pointing that as the reason why we lose.

We will never be one of the teams that is in the boys club. In this conference you have 5 or 6 teams that have more than 100 years in the conference. We're like the new red headed step child. In the B12 we were 3rd behind Oklahoma and Texas.

Nebraska doesn't make sense geographically and the values of the people compared to the other teams. This pandemic made it so obvious and we got chastised for wanting to play. Just think how absurd this is.

While the B12 wasn't perfect, it made more sense for recruiting and values of the geography.

Somehow we need to rise above it and start getting our respect back. Even if we do, we will never be in the top 4 "Boys Club" of the B10.

I really hope we leave this conference, sooner rather than later.

There you have it. Living off of those Big 12 recruiting classes we did relatively well. Once we had to start recruiting new classes in our new conference we fell off the face of the earth.”Calibraska and Flordebraska” and all that nonsense

Sure, but also a bad decision to fire a 67-27 head coach compounded by another disaster of a decision to hire Mike Riley, which hen compounded a forest fire disaster of a decision to fire our DC after 2016. Takes the Dewey decimal system to organize the amount of bad decisions our program has made the last ~7 years

Firing Bo wasn't bad, it had to be done. He was like that disgruntle employee begging to get fired.

Hiring Riley was a suicide attempt and I'm not convinced the current regime is any better to be honest, at least on the field of play. I guess the jury is still out on Frost and Co. I'm just waiting for that breakout game where we take off.

What an absolute load of crap. Let's just pretend all the **** the B1G does to Nebraska doesn't exist. Getting called out and attacked for wanting to play football. 500+ snaps between opponents being called for holding. We are literally losing games because of this nonsense and you are Ok with it. Hell what would it take to convince you? They aren't even trying to hide it. This conference is a good ole boys club and they do not want Nebraska to be successful. But you are OK with it because of research money? Let's pretend the scandals at Iowa, MSU, PSU are no big deal and let's crucify Nebraska. That is fine because of some research money?

I'm sorry, but the demise of one of the greatest college football programs of all time, one that my family has had season ticket to for 60 years, is not worth it. We have traded a conference in which we were respected, one in which we had 100+ years of history, one in which we were successful for this? And how do you think the average citizen is benefiting from this arrangement and why do we have to put up with this second rate treatment to receive these precious research dollars?

What will it take to convince me? For starters, more than you simply calling my post "an absolute load of crap".

Just so I'm following, you are suggesting that Big Ten conference leadership has instructed game officials to deliberately allow opposing teams to engage in holding without calling the penalty? is that correct? You seem to also imply that Nebraska coaches and the AD are complicit in this conspiracy. I say that because if NU leadership felt like they were being treated unfairly by game officials as the result of a league-wide conspiracy, they would have had plenty of opportunity to feed the story and evidence to Nebraska-friendly media (of which there is plenty in the State). There are plenty of sports-writers that would love to write an expose' on corruption in college sports. What's more, it doesn't resonate with you that the disparity in holding calls is quite possibly the result of something we saw immediately upon joining the Big Ten - and that was that Nebraska was not nearly as physical up front as many/most Big Ten opponents and was just naturally being dominated? You watched Nebraska's defense get shredded week after week and concluded that if only there were a few holding penalties called, we'd be back in the Top 10 and competing for championships?

I'd like to hear more about why the Big Ten benefits from Nebraska being a bad football team... how the league is benefitting from one of the all time-great college football brands looking incompetent on national television week after week. I'd also like to hear how it would damage the Big Ten if Nebraska were a Top 10 caliber team, and thus conspires to make Nebraska look like they are new to football.

As far as academics go, I'm not sure I'm the best person to articulate how the citizens of Nebraska will benefit from the profile of the University increasing. Those in academic professions may be able to provide better insight. My position is based on my assumption that having the state University's academic credibility increase - even if it is a very gradual improvement - can only be a positive thing. Even so, it would seem that Nebraska could be both respected academic institution and have a good football team.

So far, I have yet to see any legitimate evidence to suggest that Nebraska's football problems are the fault of any person or organization outside of the University of Nebraska.

I never said Nebraska would be in the Top 10 or anything remotely like that. I did say the conference has a good ole boys culture and is vindictive. We are being targeted and it has costs us multiple games. So, no the B1G does not want Nebraska to be successful. Yes, we are on the wrong side of the good ole boys club and yes, officiating is one of the ways this manifests itself.

You act like the officiating issue is perfectly acceptable. But I'm sure you have seen the pictures, videos and stats, yet you are choosing to ignore them because, research dollars???. You don't actually know how that helps anyone, but still totally worth it. How can anyone sit here and say this was a good move for Nebraska? As another poster pointed out, we do not fit, are not wanted and are stuck in a conference actively trying to make our bad situation worse. But sure, let us know how those research dollars will make all our lives better when your smart friends let you in on that answer.

As I expected, you are not able to substantiate your opinion, so you just made something up; and the one tangible thing that refutes your opinion, you conveniently disregard.

Aren't you the same guy that tried to convince us the NFL is rigged, too? Sorry if I'm confusing you with another conspiracy theorist.

AGAIN...for you, the person “in the back” apparently: your “tangible thing” is negated by those highly ranked “recruits” not actually playing here, like they use to, more often. Need to hear it again? Or do you need to see another holding penalty nullify a touchdown? Maybe you need to see our opponents hang off of our D linemen like they’re swinging from a tree branch on game winning touchdowns, again? You just need to open your eyes, simple for most on here.

I’m not saying the program has not been VERY incompetent over this past decade (play calling is the worst I believe) but recruiting has taken a big hit when you look beyond the surface, and that is at least partly due to the conference switch.

Bottom line: If we’re still in the Big 12 right now, I think we would have won probably 20-25 more games than where we’re at. You have to think about the domino affect this move had.

Do you think Maryland and Rutgers are whining about being in the Big 10? Every reason listed above, they could be, more than us, except the mysterious "we used to be good at football and now we aren't so it must be the Big 10's fault" complaint.

Frankly, we should be killing it in recruiting, we're the warmest-weather location in the Big 10. :)

Exactly, if we were winning... anything. Nobody would be bitching. It's absolutely us.

If we were still in the Big 12, we would be making way less money and getting raped yearly by Iowa State and KSU not to mention the big names.
even if we were winning id still want out of this worthless conference. Id rather put up with Texas crap.

So you want to win close games, but don’t want to address the screw job officiating that makes it much harder to win those. There are several of our losses that only happen to Nebraska because of the B1G’s agenda. Look at the Iowa game. They were called for ZERO holding penalties. Despite the fact we have all seen the pics and videos of massive holds plays that led to scores. While we have the potential game winning TD wiped away. We played well and didn’t have all the issues you listed above and still got that game taken. That is not OK. We don’t have that margin or error to over come that ****. I know it makes some people feel big to yell no excuses, but this conference is making it monumentally more difficult that it should be on us, for petty, vindictive reasons.

We are under .500, we deserve nothing more than a Friday night game in New Jersey.
People act like this conference owes us something because we used to be relevant 3 decades ago.

We are getting paid executive wages and we are cleaning the toilets, we are essentially janitors getting paid like a CEO and we still *****.

You don't like playing Friday night games in NJ then be something more than an under .500 football clown show.

See, we agree. The problems are 100% Nebraska problems. It has nothing to do with the Big Ten conference. Among other things, Nebraska needs to be much, much better at developing the talent they recruit. If they are not doing that, they are going to struggle in any league.

Gosh, all this time I thought Nebraska's problems were the result of poor coaching and poor player development. Now I learn it is all an orchestrated screw job from the Big Ten conference. The Big Ten is so influential, they are not only able to control the outcome of conference games, but also non-conference games. Because we can all clearly see how the Big Ten benefits when Nebraska not loses to the likes of Northern Illinois and Troy, but also get swept in a series with PAC 12 schools Colorado and UCLA.

And so on....

I honestly am shocked by the responses saying yes they are happy with the move. What in the world is better about being in this conference? I honestly cannot think of a single thing outside of the research money that is so important to one poster. Even if you somehow believe the B1G is just fine with Nebraska and would b perfectly happy with them being successful (if you do believe that I have some nice beachfront property in Kansas you might be interested in). For Nebraska this conference means:

Worse Rivalries
Worse Road trips
Worse Recruiting
Worse Standing in the Conference

What is one single thing that is better, that would have made us leave the Big 12, if we knew it wouldn't fall apart? I honestly cannot think of a single thing.

I've asked several times for evidence that the Big Ten is part of Nebraska's problem. Not only has no one provided any credible evidence supporting the claim that the conference is hurting Nebraska; but they have also been unable to explain why the conference would benefit from Nebraska continuing to suck at football. Not without sounding deranged, anyway...

As an Omaha resident for over 25 years, I am glad Neb joined the B1G. I was listening to several local sports radio shows11 years ago as this went down. There was a lot of excitement and I still feel Neb has a lot going for it in the future. For those anti B1G, I recall a lot of anti Texas and anti Big 12; especially after the officials put 1 second back on the clock.

I question what everyone who thinks Neb should have stayed in the Big 12 thinks the team and coaching staff would have played out.

If Neb had stayed in the Big 12 would Bo been more likely to keep his temper in check and his trap shut and he would not have been fired? Would his brother have been able to keep his pants on and been allowed to stay as DC? Would Bo had improved his recruiting to the level to compete.
(Hayden had no problem filling his Iowa roster with Texas players)

If Bo was let go, would there have been another dozen coaches beating down the door for Eichorst to hire instead of Riley?

**** Bo.

Be careful what you wish for. There was no screw job like the screw job the Big 12 put on us in the A&M game.

For those who have forgotten... 16 penalties for 140 yards for Nebraska compared to two penalties for 10 yards against Texas A&M. And we lost by 3.

You might argue that, if we had never left, we wouldn't have been slighted like that. Maybe not. But it still goes to show what a bunch of impetuous children they are.

I say take the money, take the academic prestige, and start playing football with the big boys.

I do think we ought to schedule one home-and-away every year with a big 12 team, though. Just so they don't forget what it looks like when their stadium is full of Huskers.
