This is the guy I thought Nebraska should have hired instead of Frost. Bielema will turn them into Big Ten West contenders instantly. One of the best coaches in the world.

That seems like a lot of hyperbole, but I can see it being an ok hire for Illinois. Instant division contenders? I doubt it.

If I recall correctly, Solich was down to Bo Pelini and Bielema for defensive coordinator in 2003. Imagine if Bielema had been hired instead. And then been head coach instead of Pelini. What a weird alternative universe that would be. Personally, I think Bielema is a giant sack of pus but he has been more successful than Pelini as a head coach.

I think Bielema was a product of the Alvarez system.

I don’t understand why anyone thought Bielma would have been a good hire here? Because of how they ran all over Bo’s defense? Many did that after him.

He scares no one. I hope they do it.
His team would physically push around Nebraska within 1 season. Don’t mistake his Arkansas failure with being a bad coach. It would take a miracle for any Arkansas coach to compete for a title in the SEC.

Illinois already pushes Nebraska around. Why would they need Bielema for that. They screwed the pooch by letting Lovie go. Stupid.

He hasn't been a good coach for 10 years. Arkansas let him go three years ago. No one wanted him to take over their program with that awesome resume? Product of system who's gotten more credit than he deserves

Lovie is by FAR a better coach than Bielema. Something tells me that the rumor of Bielema to Illinois is a diversion. It has to be.

I think they need to think young and hope they give the guy enough time for the OSU to run its cycle. I'm not sure what the expectations are at Illinois but IMO they need to hire a young guy who can recruit then give him time to build a winner. It's going to be damned tough for them no matter who they hire. Pray they don't hire Malzhan.

Jesus, there's about 3 guys on that list that I think Frost MIGHT be able to out coach. There's a couple I've never heard of so I put them in the other group.

Pretty meh list. I’m personally a pretty big fan of Willie Fritz. So I hope they don’t get him.

Lol. Wtf is everyone talking about? Outside of drilling Nebraska this year, Lovie has been an abomination at Illinois for 5 years. Dude was only 2 games over .500 in the NFL. Bielema experienced success at Wisconsin. Winning record all 7 seasons and even while failing at Arkansas he had a winning record 3 of 5 years.
Lovie’s beard and a fortunate Super Bowl run warped folks minds. Everybody’s just bitter that fat Bret ran us over and told us about it repeatedly.

Idiot. Bielema won 3 Big 10 titles/Rose Bowl appearances while in Madison. Lovie I don't think ever knew what a winning season was at Illinois except for one year.

Leipold has Buffalo ranked for the first time ever. Guy can coach.
