Responding to Frost’s excuse of a young team...

“There’s a saying about young players. Sometimes they get better. And sometimes they just get older. Coaching matters.”

Yep . Just because they are young doesn’t mean that they will get better. Just look at our seniors today. Other than Stille, has anyone really improved?

And how many of those young players have one foot out the door?

Either way, Atleast on offense we are not seeing many young players do much. The offensive genius won’t get Betts involved outside of 1 sweep play a game.

But, every Big Ten team has young talent. Luckily for them, most have competent coaches as well.

Not much you can add to that, pretty much spot on. This game was lost by the coaches. FYI - Northwestern wins today over Illinois, rushing the ball for over 400 yards. WTF. That should be our stat line. Am I the only one who thinks that?

You are preaching to the choir here. I sounded this battle cry the last two years and got hammered on here. Like it matters, just get better and win. Young can only be an excuse for so long but I guess we can always talk about the stars of our players during bowl season when we are watching everyone else.

Do I want the Huskers to run a power football scheme and a blitzing 4-3 D? F... yes.

Do I think Frost and his staff are going to develop a program that does that? Hell no.

I really don’t care what front we line up in on defense. But this approach to football, with these players is not working and isn’t magically going to start working anytime soon.

That's the painful realization. We do not have any hope or confidence in his abilities. He is so lost.

We have players that have improved but it’s the coaches job to keep them from regression and on a even keel way to much inconsistency

On offense Kade Warner has improved. He has gone from dropping touchdown passes every other game to almost never touching the ball

this team is pretty young and youth explains a lot of mistakes. But there is a lot of experienced players out there too. Martinez, a couple of the starting OLs; Mills; TEs; multiple LBs, multiple CBs and safeties are seniors or 3rd year starting juniors. There is mainly youth on the bench but the starting defense is very experienced. The starting offense has a 5th yr senior at LT which is the most important position on the OL. There are enough seniors playing that if all of them leave i dont see how this team is any better next year.

Why doesn’t Fish ever get criticized? Everyone else does but this guy is never mentioned. His guys have been average at best and got completely lit up today against Minny’s chumps.
because fans are enamored with recruiting probably more than results on the field

Part of that is the linebackers were biting pretty hard on the playaction and that puts a ton of pressure on the DB's. I think Fisher does a good job of coaching up the corners, but safeties he's always struggled with.

Do our safety’s actually know how to wrap up? Dismuke and deontai are always going for the all out shoulder hit, ******* embarrassing at their age and experience. Not to mention Taylor Britt, dipshit has got to know better than to lead with his head, I hate the rule but it’s the godamn rule. He could have smoked the qb just as hard by going lower.

Top to bottom the coachers are really bad. We can pick apart players, schemes, units, offense or defense, bottom line, we can't do basic things. Seriously, what D1 program have you ever seen struggle snapping the football? All week long analysts have been talking about how bad Minnesota's run defense is, but did we run the ball? Nope. Minnesota didn't do anything spectacular, they were clean and efficient and they won. We have trouble snapping, running, jumping, blocking, throwing. It's dumbfounding and it all falls on coaching.

Been trying to find the words to describe Husker football at its current state and this is it...we literally cannot do the basics in order to remotely give us a shot at being successful week to week. In year 3 there are no more excuses for it. That falls directly on the coaches.

Headcard, your loss pleases me. You should start another thread about how perplexed you are about trolling and site scientific evidence:)
