Here in Pilsen there’s a little bit of thuggery here and there that’s mostly a spill over from Little Village/Cicero, and there was a time when no one would come down here, but that was 7+ years ago. Now the only thuggery I’ve witnessed so far is the city wide curfew of 9pm on alcohol sales.
Why, do you mean to suggest we don't run from cover to cover amid a constant whiz of bullets just because you actually live here and have direct experience with not being shot and/or mugged every single day?

Throngs of people refer to it as “Murderha”.
Too bad so many Iowans have to cheat death just to use a real airport.

But I guess it's better than paying $800 to take a cropduster to O'Hare, then hoping to make your connection.

They noticed a weapon on him as he got out of the car. Then a stuggle ensued. that is when shots were fired.

Body cams were on, as well as video from one of the cars. We'll see how it looks when all of the evidence comes out.

What do the 3 people that were in his car say happened?

They don’t refer to it as “Murderha” for nothing.
my daughter's Harvard friend who is doing online classes with my daughter in Omaha in a house I own, says her mom called it Omahate. She was terrified of letting her daughter move to Omaha. They're from Oakland CA. Man where do the lefties come up with this crap? The girl loves Omaha.

For reference Omaha's rate is at 5/100,000 murders per capita. Minneapolis is at 11. Baltimore is at 57,

I walk up and down 18th street everyday randomly shooting at everything so people know I mean business and so far it hasn’t been a problem

Is it me, or has the term "thugs" evolved into a racist term? It's pretty much turned into a replacement for another word.

Glad you have been safe. My family and I were had a crackhead break down our back door to get my wife’s purse at 3 in morning with us asleep upstairs. I chased him out not knowing if he had a gun. I now own a gun and next time will kill any intruder with zero guilt

Sorry if folks think crackhead is racist too. I could let you all know the race if you want but it does not matter

I have to laugh at all this short sided stuff. I even saw a quote from Bill Gates on how he thinks 50% of business travel is gone permanently... lol.. what a moron.

Once people are vaccinated, they will be chomping at the bit to travel and get out of the house. That business travel is going to snap back pretty quickly.

And those sitting in BFE with their shoddy internet connection are going to miss the interaction with others.

I'm pretty anti social, but even I don't want to live in Glenwood, IA and drive 40 minutes each way to hit a mall or other big box retailer in Omaha. And I am certainly not up for wasting hours of my day sitting in a metal cage playing traffic games with the rest of society to commute.

It's you. You're starting to come across like a RINO. A common tactic among the left is to redefine words

Just make sure you have the insurance. There are always civil suits to be worried about, even if the crackhead is guilty of breaking into your house and stealing from you. It was unfair of you to take away the crackheads method of employment and you will have cheated his family out of his income.

sigh. All one has to do is talk to her to decipher where a Berkeley educated female attorney resides politically.

If I was a mayor of any small towns within a half an hour of any big city, I would be putting together one hell of an advertising campaign to attract young professionals to come live in their area and avoid the madness of what is happening in cities. Most small communities within that perimeter of Omaha can boast their community has the same number of people killed in the last 100 years that the city has in the last week. Same with sexual assaults and many other crimes. Buy or build a home for a fraction of the price on a half acre to 1 acre lot versus being sandwiched together. With Covid’s new reality, many people may only need to go into the office a couple times a week, if at all.
It seems like in a lot of these towns that are losing population, there hasn't been a new house built in 40 years. Quality housing as much as decent jobs seems to be keeping people away from more rural areas.

They’re from Oakland and mom is terrified to let her daughter move to Omaha? Oakland has triple the murder rate of Omaha (16.3/100,000). C’mon mom! lmao

There are a lot of people much braver than me. When a cop tells me to do something, I do it. I don't like the idea of being shot or thrown into jail for disobeying very much.
Agree with everything you said except take out ‘braver’ and insert ‘dumber’ in the first sentence.

If a person finds themself in a situation that involves the law and they decide not to comply, I guarantee it is going to end badly for them. Better to live and have your day in court if it comes to that. That should be communicated more.

“Thug” is just a polite way of describing a person who is rude, self-absorbed, disrespect for law, has no manners, has no respect for others, does not know how to behave in public. In short just a douchebag a$$hole.

And they come in all colors and walks of life. So not a racist term at all.

You’re a racist suggesting the term refers to a race when there is no connection at all.

See how easy it is to throw around the “racist” word these days? That is why is has zero sting anymore. It’s become a political buzzword.

That's odd, I've lived in the Chicago area for over a decade and had zero problems with "thugs" bothering me. They didn't bother me in Lakeview, they didn't bother me in Rogers Park, they didn't bother me in the West Loop when it was peppered with vacant packing plants and long-empty industrial buildings. Didn't bother me on the South Side going to Midway or to the MSI. Didn't bother me on the *scary* Green Line or the Pink Line or the Red Line.

Yes there is crime, yes there is gang activity. You know where else they had that? Lincoln, Nebraska where I lived right before moving to Chicago.

But thank God the wholesome burgs of Western Nebraska don't suffer such "thugs" like big, scary Chicago does. What's that, they do? https://theindependent.com/news/cri...cle_f23c7888-2a48-11e8-a16d-33954bcd32bd.html

Well ok maybe not Grand Island but surely Kearney. What? Not Kearney either??? https://nebraska.tv/news/local/law-enforcement-seminar-discusses-gangs-in-nebraska

Maybe we'd all be safer in wherever it was they robbed those people's house while they were at the funeral?

Anywhere you find enough humans you'll find crime. INCLUDING police forces. Some people are good and some people are ******. How many of you have ever worked even ONE job where there wasn't a guy you had to work with who was a total piece of ****? Well they have that when you're a cop, too. Except their total piece of **** gets a gun and a badge. What's hard to imagine about that?
It's almost like there's a higher incidence of social problems where lots of people happen to live. Crazy.

People forget that social problems exist in those nice suburbs as well---they're just not as out in the open.

Richard Sherman, a black, dread-locked guy with a BA from Stanford (also working on his MA from Stanford), was referred to as a "thug" for talking too loud.

I haven't seen too many loudmouthed white guys be called "thugs".

That's why, for right or wrong, some people think "thug" has replaced another word.

It's you. There are thugs of all races.
The most common type of person I've heard the term thug used were hockey enforcers and back in the day Kurt Rambis. It's just another word to be offended by now even though the shoe fits for most of those guys.

Graduating from Stanford doesn't disqualify you from being a thug. Sherman played football like a thug. He played at times as dirty as anyone....not that that was bad thing. I idolized Dick Butkus. He was a thug if ever there was one and I remember very well him being called that.

There is no doubt that professional athletes have developed a bad reputation when it comes to drugs, domestic abuse, etc. It just so happens that those things seem to happen at a higher rate in guys with dreadlocks. They're a product of the society they come from and many of them come from some pretty crappy situations. Face it, young men wear the dreads and get tatted up because they WANT to look like tough guys (thugs).
