For what purpose at this point in time? I hope we're not planning to go to war.Every college-aged kid does a 2-year stint.

How about putting OT to start a post that isn’t sports related...![]()
Same thing could be said about the late 60's early 70's when we had a lottery. Most of the kids that went had no interest in college as they could get a deferment. I'll not lie. I got my college degree, but also had my preinduction physical. I just never got the callNot many of today's college kids I'd want protecting me
CFB players are college aged so it's not OT
Doesn’t have anything to do with Sports..
If they're serving in the military they aren't available to play sports. Not OT.
It would inflate the defense budget enormously I suspect.Every college-aged kid does a 2-year stint.

I could see a choice between 6 months active duty and 2 years National Guard service. Could it be that time spent in the military might change the lives of low income kids? I think so. 2 years compulsory IMO in non-war times is too much.Every college-aged kid does a 2-year stint.

I work with a vet who was in the Navy who is now 33 years old. They worked him so hard in 5 years that he tore both rotator cuffs, destroyed his middle finger distal phalanx tendons and got numerous concussions. He said the doctors told him to take ibuprofen and rest. Looks like they skimp like they do with ones at the VA.Previously, I would have said nay.
But, it's 2020.
If the government says it's a good idea, then, by all means, YAY!

how about the high school drop outs and gang bangers? Not many of today's college kids I'd want protecting me

You know it’s funny. This would have been somewhat popular opinion years ago- with a fore sure agreement that 2 years gets you a large benefit toward college/school. Now, the expectation is forgive my student loan while I do nothing in return. This country has certainly changed attitudes in regard to expected hand outs if we’ve advanced in anything!Every college-aged kid does a 2-year stint.

I hear they have great healthcare. How many kids would be going to Canada?
Agree 100%. Gives everyone a real stake in our national politics. Don't even have to be combat; there's lots of opportunities in medical, Intelligence, technology, etc.Every college-aged kid does a 2-year stint.

Yay. Having been appointed to West Point, then flunked the physical, only to be drafted and passed the same hurdle during Vietnam and served there in '68-69, I come at this differently than youngsters.Every college-aged kid does a 2-year stint.

What a snowflake response !Of course not. I thought we believed in freedom in this country.
No, let the other poor bastards die for their country. If we're talking about drafting everyone 18-20 into combat potentially, I'm against that.
Not what I said at all. There is already a sufficient number of volunteer soldiers and the draft already exists. Those who want to be in the military can be.No, let the other poor bastards die for their country.![]()
