Not a social media person but a family friend told me its a social media company that doesn't censor or minimize those they don't agree with. I guess they gained 5 million new subscribers today alone.

Some people are fed up with twitters biased censoring of conservatives. I guess a lot of people are.

I have seen a lot of my friends post this. It’s funny that Facebook and Twitter finally do something about fake news and people can’t handle being called out so they had to create a new site. It’s just another site for people to live in a bubble and not deal with reality.

People are pissed at how many votes Zuckerberg was able to buy. He plowed a few hundred million into this race.

Disinformation is a major problem in society. Today, people can disguise blatant lies to look like a legit media outlet and you throw in the massive reach of social media and you have millions of people believing it.

And instead of trying to seek out the truth, people want to go to an echo chamber where they just consume more of the same content.

We are in a very strange place in society.

I know some of Facebook's "fact checkers". There is certainly a bias to their "facts".

I deleted Facebook and unfollowed a **** load of people on twitter that only spew political information, left and right. I'm not going back, it's rather enlightening.

My Facebook usage most closely resembles Crocodile Dundee's TV viewing when he gets to New York.

I'm always for free speech as a core value of this country so I welcome as much competition and alternatives in both social media and the news media as there can be. Period.

It's a very dangerous situation when either is dominated by only a powerful few. If you don't like one of the sources, then just don't participate or listen/watch. That's your free choice. But to complain about there being alternatives and/or trying to shut them down is just plain anti-American.

In general, social media is worthless. The bad ish on social media outweighs the good. People complain about censorship, and I find that amusing. " I am quitting this platform because they won't let me spew stupid ish about libtards having relations with child sex slaves in a Toys R Us breakroom. This country is going down!" Even typing that fake quote has me taken aback.

I switched to Parler. The censorship of conservatives in our nation is getting scary. We are on a slippery slope with this suppression of our 1st amendment rights. All should be concerned.

Maybe just talk to real people in real life and not on social media and you don't have to worry about being censored. It's actually pretty nice.

hardly anyone is concerned. promoting lies to uneducated people everyday is much more dangerous than sticking a label on 1 in every 1,000,000,000,000 posts on twitter.

Maybe there should be freedom of choice. Those that want social media can use it and those that don't want social media can stay off it. What makes me nervous is when people try to make that decision for other people. Let everyone choose their own way.

Prove that it's fake news. Because I ran an experiment and posted something that had been published by the MSN, then retracted, so Facebook censored it. Then not even two weeks later, BAM. MSN got back at it. Please wake up. This isn't a game.

I agree with you. But that clearly isn't happening. So someone has to adjust. Why not control your own actions instead of being mad at an internet site for making their own decisions?

I'm not leaving Facebook but that's my choice. For others, isn't choosing to leave Facebook and going to Parler just that - ie. controlling your own actions?

I find it humorous (and disturbing at the same time) that some people are bashing an alternative social media site. Let there be as many alternatives as possible. Only people who want to see others views being controlled would hate the availability of alternatives.

Personally I think the whole concept of social media and what it does is one of the top 3 issues in this nation. Has done nothing in 2020 but make things worse, and it's showing it's true colors. So, unless it's following Husker Athletics, count me out.
