is a true sophmore and a walk-on, from Nebraska of all places. We will not win games with walk-ons playing a significant role. Prove me wrong that we have better and more deserving players at linebacker not getting a fair shake.

Your problem is thinking that the stars and rankings for high schoolers playing high schoolers matters. Trust what your eyes see on the field.

I guess what point are you trying to make here? Reimer looks like an animal right now, but D is really improved. The D-Line has been a big time bright spot.

yeah, too many peeps crapping on our walk-on WRs and walk-on program altogether. It probably is too big. But, there's a place for them. Reimer is our best linebacker. He's playing like we expect the rest of the unit to play. Best players play. If you're a 4 star, don't sit back and let the walk on drink your milkshake.

please. game day is all that matters. we've heard enough about practice the last 3 years to fill a grain silo. it hasn't translated into wins.

if we have gamers on saturday, I could care less what they do during the week. get them out there, get them the ball on offense and put them in a position to succeed on defense.

Reimer was easily our best player on both sides of the ball. Hands down no question. He made everybody look like they were playing in slow motion. The most impressive part of his game is how quickly he gets off blocks. He slaps the lineman’s arms away and goes and makes tackles. I’m not sure how he gained 25 lbs of muscle so fast but I like it!

Luke Reimer might be the best LBer we've had since Lavonte David (JUCO) and Ty Robinson might be the best DLman we've had since Jared Crick (lowly ranked Nebraskan). One of them is a walk-on from Lincoln and the other is an Army All-American from Arizona but, just like with David and Crick, you've got to find game changers anywhere you can.

It did look like in the second half Northwestern tried getting him in coverage on their tight ends and running backs and he struggled a bit with that. I hope it’s not a case of once an offense has seen what he can’t do, they take advantage of it in the future.

We always hear the narrative of the walk-on heroes, obviously you won't compete at a high level with lots of walk-ons playing. But there are some cases where a walk-on is among the best players on your team, not because your scholarship athletes are crap, but because the walk-on is that good, hence the narrative. In this case, I think Reimer is one of those guys. I seem to remember reading that he truly flew under the radar of recruiting services. Realistically you only have one or two guys like that out of 100.

Reimer is a BOSS. Aside from him, Henrich is up there too. Dude literally owned an entire series when he was in. We should phase out Miller and Tannor and mostly utilize Reimer, Henrich, Domann, and Honas.

I get the point, but Reimer turning out to be a stud doesn't excuse what's going on at WR. I'm all for the walk on program because if we can juggle all the pieces once in awhile you find a Reimer. But it's the exception and you have to sort through a lot of hay to find the needle. Fleming and Betts looked like an immediate upgrade but what do I know.

Betts played in three plays. They told him run three yards and turn around. LM throw the ball to Betts, ok! It worked two times and they never did it again. Is he an idiot and doesn’t know the playbook? Are the coaches idiots? Somebody is!

Reimer is a baller! Not to be mixed up or confused with that wideout crew. They should be on that bench and we should be gettting young guys those reps. Is was clear to see the young guys are ready and can contribute. Betts and Fleming are actual threats to the defense. Manning and Brown as well. It’s a coach’s job to get your best players on the field.

You should absolutely be thrilled that a local kid with a dream who began as a walk on is doing so great instead of disparaging him because some idiot pundits failed to recognize his talent and drive. I'm cheering for every walk on because they had the odds stacked against them, yet they persevered. They have heart and drive.

Recruit rankings mean zero until players prove it on the field. We've recruited a lot of 4 stars who turned into complete busts. How come people never get that?

That sure is working out well for our offense. If who we are rolling out on offense is our “best players” then Frost is not only face planting on the field but off the field as well.

Reimers may be our best LB. Nobody is saying the walk on is not useful. But, you should not be running out multiple walk ons at skill positions. At one point we had Kade Warner, Wyatt Liewer, and Brody Belt on the field together. That’s not going to get it done in the Big Ten unless Frost is trying to lower his already abysmal winning %.

I'm not disparaging. I'm actually throwing shade at those who blast our other walk-ons, especially at WR. I knew just a little about Reimer, but man, is he on everyone's radar now. Great instincts, physical and great technique.

It's really more of an indictment on the staff's ability to evaluate and recruit than anything. You have 12? 15? scholarships on WRs and trot out a bunch of walk-ons? The guy we target deep most is a big TE that can't outmuscle DBs for catches? Bad look for the coaches more than the players.

Or, if you have so little confidence in your quarterback, you realize running the ball is the way, so you roll out with your over-achieving walk ons who will do the dirty work blocking on the perimeter. The kid from South Dakota isn't really a walk-on. He's more of a 5th year grad transfer. The grad transfer they got from Cal last year. I bet he was glad he made that move.

We should. I believe he was dinged up for Ohio State. If he's not starting going forward, I will probably reverse course and get on the firefrost bandwagon. Never thought I'd say that

Honas will be pretty good for us. He was recovering from the ACL in 2019. It takes most guys a year or more to get back to normal

Pump the brakes a little. I get there’s not much to be excited about. It was NW after all. I feel like I’ve been hearing about the next great ones for 21 years. I was that guy last year about Wandale.

That doesn't seem to fit the narrative of much I have read on here, but the world is complicated and Liewer shouldn't trot out with the first team. Frost came here to resurrect a program. He has made alot of mistakes, but all you need to know how complex it is. Is to read about all of the defenciencies. If it was easy to gather a hundred folks into a spear, Frost would have done it. I won't post anymore, but Frost is our best, first choice. Give him time to fail or succeed.

As for the Bo thread, **** that guy. I hope he fails. No well wishes.

Wandale still could be if he didn't have an incompetent QB. You saw Reimers flying though. Maybe you missed Henrich, but he simply owned. I'm not saying the next greats. But I am saying they need to start over the likes of Miller. Hands down.
