McCaffrey Should Start at QB

We all agree he’s our best player. It’s idiotic to turn him into a Swiss Army knife when he could be taking every snap.

AM looked good, who cares. It’s good to have an experienced backup.

I will have to disagree till McCaffery proves he can pass more than a couple of times in a game type situation and is very effective just not a couple of passes..
AM has proven he can’t. That’s all I need to see.

If ‘very effective’ is the bar, he should’ve started game 3 last year moving forward.

We will be seeing the Franchise well before the year is over with! Logan Smothers

I was for that when Martinez started screwing up, but then Mcaffrey nearly threw a pic and then fumbled too.

I do think they are asking Luke to do too much, and it probably hurts his development at QB when he's spending all this time running all over the field. And if he gets popped and hurt, well now your QB backup is Logan.

I'd like to see us play a regular offensive identity where we feed it to our stable of running backs, if it is Luke that is the QB for that, then I support that.

Luke might have a better deep ball as well.

When the defense put the pressure on Martinez, things fell apart real quick.

Deleted my post until he is given the resigns starting at quarterback and plays a full half 16 for 20 was pretty good without any receivers that could help our offense out..

I’m not sure who is better, but Mcaffrey is a straight up baller and seems like he wants it more than anything. Sometimes I think Adrian would rather be coaching or something.

I think AM is a better qb at this point. However McCaffrey is better for our offense and is the playmaker we need right now. It's a tough choice, but I think McCaffrey gives us a better chance to win.

The Luke McCaffrey boner fest is a bit premature. He looked really damn good running the ball. He sucks throwing it and also fumbled the ball. He was throwing the ball to the same wideouts that AM had to work with. I think his looks his best at running back. But his frame is too slight for the pounding he would take. Play him at wr along Wan’Dale and see what happens. He is not the answer at qb.

If the wide receiver corps is Wandale Robinson + take your pick of interchangeable walk-ons, it doesn't matter who is throwing the ball. 1989 Joe Montana could be under center and he'd look like a chump.

If the offensive game plan is to run QB's all over the place and never attempt to complete a pass to a wideout, give McCaffrey the nod.

Don't know where else a big play would ever come from this season. Kade Warner over the top?

I think if he’s moved he should be moved to receiver. If he’s deemed as the starting qb, who is he going to throw to? We need playmakers at the wideout position.

I will take AM still at this point. Luke went under center after AM went out with helmet issues and fumbled that snap .luckily got back on it.. had abother fumble on a qb run and nearly threw a pick. I say put luke at the duck r and keep him on the field with omar and wandale..

On a side note 11 played very well for or te's great blocking and had a big catch as i rewatched the game.. same as Honas..just my .02

I'd need to see him throw more to even begin the conversation.
A year ago I went with my GF at the time to visit her brother in Bama and he asked if I wanted to see our new QB (Smothers) since I was from Nebraska , so we went to one of his games. The kid has a far more accurate arm than AM and LM as well as this kid also has T-Mart speed before he got hurt. He is a nightmare in the open field as he has ankle breaking shake and bake and runs like a cross between an RB and WR in the open field. He also has almost the same insane top gear as TM, not quite but very close. He however does need to work on his arm strength a little and when that happens, AM and LM don't stand a chance against him as he's also an ultra competitive field general.

So you saw Smothers play in high school and determined he is a more accurate passer than AM and Luke? Ok

Are we even sure Luke can pass the ball? I mean Martinez is not the problem. We have the worst receivers in Power 5 right now and seems like so many of our passes are East /west. Complain about Martinez but I would say he starts and does well at most SEC schools. Maybe our offensive system isn’t that great anymore.

I disagree in this case. In our case we have 3 playmakers on offense and two of them are QBs. It is best to get them both on the field as often as possible.

Outside of the fumble AM looked pretty good. The offense does seem to have more simplified identity when Luke is in the game though.

Simple as in one dimensional? Qb run half the time. Then he gets injured and we are back to square one.

that’s my issue with Martinez. Seems like he doesn’t care. Indifferent. Obviously doesn’t have “it”. He’s making the same mistakes in year 3. Never seen a fumble six happen when the ball carrier is in the open field. Cut losses and move forward with Luke.

ME: I don't get to see these guys every day. Would like to see how AM performs in the next game. But I'd be perfectly OK with alternating series with these guys over the next couple of games.

SF: Gets to see both of them every day. Should be able to make a clear decision based on practice this week.

McCaffrey = the next Eric Crouch

When his time comes, just watch. That option we ran on 3rd and 5 was vintage Nebraska. And McCaffrey ran it to PERFECTION.

Could be as soon as this season, but I think we might be a shade more dangerous with both Qbs on the field the way that we did.

He seems smaller than crouch. Worry about him getting injured more often but he does hit the hole hard. Just seemed when frost was at ucf the qb didn’t run as much.

I don’t see the point of lining up Luke at QB, and splitting Adrian out wide. That’s not going to keep working.

When Frost was at UCF they threw the deep ball early and often. He's had to reinvent the offense here.
