If any of you want some background noise at the office or a break from discussing your stance on COVID-19, here's a link to HCSF's entire press conference today (Frost starts speaking at about the 4-minute mark). GBR!

I just finished watching the entire press conference. I can literally feel the emotion coming from Coach Frost. You can see the range of emotions on his face. It looks like he wants to put on some football pads and let loose!!

Nebraska is playing football this year with or without the BIG10. How is this going to work? Could our days in the BIG10 be officially over?

Depending on what quote you get the wording differs, but alot of them say the B1G is voting to postpone the season. Now us regular folks, that's as good as cancel, but contractually it might mean something.

If they postpone the season, and not cancel it, the expectation then is that we be there to do our part in February or whatever. If we go off the reservation and schedule our own fall season and aren't available in the spring, it becomes NU who is in breach of contract. They would be forcing us to put our conference our affiliation on the line, basically. This could be the conferences way of keeping the cats herded if they don't want to play this fall.

Completely agree - it almost seemed like he could burst into tears at multiple times during the presser.

Glad he's our coach.

If Big 10 cancels , Clemson has two open dates and it would be great to play Big Red in Lincoln or Clemson . Had the opportunity 10 years ago to attend a game in Lincoln and it was GREAT experience ! Great presser by Frost!

My guess is that the AD/Frost want to make it real hard for the B1G to make the decision official. We'll fight to the end. I have no doubt we are looking around, but I think they realize that if the B1G calls it, that's probably the higher percentage outcome for NU.

Hopefully Ferentz and Harbaugh and a couple others have the nads to give similar pressers.

Might make tomorrow's BIG presser a little more interesting.

You can’t tell me Nebraska and Iowa would be the only two that want to continue on...

AD’ and Coaches are the ones that aren’t playing the political game who ever is playing the political game with these Presidents from B1G institutions..

I haven’t seen the video yet ... was he as passionate in this video as in all the videos he did this summer imploring people to wear masks, avoid bars and crowds and to socially distance?

I'm sure you're being facetious, but he did put out videos advocating all of those things and his tone seldom changes.

apologies ... I must have missed them ... will you repost just to reemphasize the importance
Watch your local TV networks, they're pretty frequent. Assuming your local is Nebraska local. If you're a national news guy you're not gonna see them.

Now I offer you an apology, he didn't explicitly mention wearing a mask, but he did say to follow local guidelines and explicitly noted avoiding large gatherings and social distancing.

Also sent a PSA regarding basic health.

If there's anything else you specifically need from him, this is the number for his office phone from the staff directory: (402) 472-3116

Be well, friend.

If only this country's leaders and health experts had implored these people to avoid crowds and social distance:

Every current commit and his parents need to watch Coach Frost’s Press Conference today.

Hopefully they come away knowing that Coach Frost/Nebraska is a place that wants to take care of you as a person, help you earn a degree from a Big 10 institution, and will support your pursuit to excel on the football field.

The state of Nebraska doesn't have a state-wide mask mandate, nor is there a national one. The city of Lincoln has had one for about two weeks. These videos were released prior to that. So, for him to have imposed that on people without a consensus from medical personnel and state officials would have been ill-advised.

That being said, three athletes spoke at today's press conference and all three wore masks when not speaking.

Good day, doc.

I applaud your patience. As @jlb321 knows, I fall prey to his schtick. You are one cool customer... well done.

If only this country's leaders and health experts had implored these people to avoid crowds and social distance:

Both Fauci, the mayor of Los Angeles and others called the protests dangerous potential super-spreader events. I won't argue the media likely swept these comments under the rug of course, but I'm not 100% sure because tv news is certainly unwatchable trash. Some city officials also danced around questions after the fact, because hey, they didn't want to hurt any protestor fee-fees, which is stupid. But leaders and health experts did warn them, and Garcetti said out loud that protests did lead to a spike in cases. Of course, I'm sure sending Tiananmen Square style tanks would have been fun.

Thanks, timnsun. Many years ago I worked a summer in a group home directed at helping kids who have significant challenges communicating appropriately in normal social settings, so I just rely on my training.

I don't agree with any of these large gatherings but I remember what it was like when the riots/protests started.

Overall, people were doing their best to not attend large gatherings. Then the riots started and lasted for months at every major city. People started to see the hypocrisy of all of this and said they had had enough.

Sturgis and these events are a REACTION to the endless BS that was allowed all through the summer. I don't condone any of it but I understand why people stopped caring.

I agree large gatherings at this time are ridiculous..... whether crowded thousands of people marching for BLM or hundreds of thousands gathering in Sturgis, SD. I'll make two counter-points to your reply: (1) as a resident of SD and a veteran of prior rallies, I can confidently claim that the 2020 Sturgis Rally was happening with or without earlier summer protests; and (2) It looks to me that the protest crowds have evolved to the point of at considerable mask compliance as opposed to what you will see at any biker rally.

The dirty secret is that a gathering like those protests doesn't mean that you'll suddenly have a large increase in cases within a week. When a virus like this spreads on average to 4 people from one shedder, it takes normally several weeks from an incident to detect a rise above baseline in a population. This is especially true with the demographics of the protestors. In that case I would expect it to take 3-5 weeks to multiply to the point of being discernible statistically in a large city. We saw that in several cities. The other thing to note is that really the number of people protesting as a percentage of the population of those cities was actually pretty small. A very loud minority caused a huge amount of grief for the rest of the residents.

sounded to me that the University was committed to playing, at least Scott said so on a couple of occasions.. it was almost as if he didn't want to bring up conference issues..

he says, Paraphrasing here "we feel we have some hard decisions to make now, or there will be even harder decisions to make down the road"

Not sure what all that means, but he then finishes that statement by saying he believes the people at the University of Nebraska were committed to playing football.

so what does that mean? what is the hard decision to take now, that avoids a harder decision down the road?

play some unauthorized games, so that you don't have to fire people?
try out being an independent, just to cover some costs this year?

I'm not exactly sure, but the hard decision part didn't seem to revolve around covid.

Maybe he flat out wants to leave this conference, I don't know.

Curious what you guys think he means about that statement?

I wish we never joined this god for saken conference. And before I get blasted I understand the financial gain of being in the big 10. But this conference had been an embarrassment off the field.
