I have always had a soft spot for these beasts...love that it's a 4spd. Still seems steep to me, then again most of those prices do at these auctions.

Our friends used to have a Bronco like that in Blue but sold it 20 years ago. Guess they should've held on to it.

These bigger Broncos were nice but I felt they were too big. I myself have always wanted one of the earlier (smaller) Broncos to play around in.

Unrestored, looks very clean & straight. It does seem high. Personally, I prefer the older K5 Blazers though.

These Bronco's are screaming out for bigger wheels/tires. Unreal that 16'' was so standard on so many of the older cars...not sure what this one has, but 15 & 16 were so commonplace, and now they look like miniature wheels.

Not that many unrestored survivors out there. Most took a beating (as they were intended to do) and/or look like swiss cheese now.

The price does seem high but I'm guessing the buyer didn't feel the inflation too much.

They should have come with a full roll cage and Nascar seat harness. Cool looking vehicles though. I wish I could find a nice 1969 Ford Explorer pickup. There's still some Rangers around but I don't think I've seen another Explorer package for about 20 years. Yes I said pickup. That was the first vehicle I drove when I was a kid.

I had a very early on Ford Ranger...don't remember the year but it was one of their first...frame rails were so rusty the truck sagged in the center and the cab was touching the bed. I jacked it up, welded angle iron everywhere I could grab decent metal, lowered it, it held, undercoated the crap out of it...and sold it to a lawyer....had a few nightmares abut that one but it never did come back to bite me.

The first generation Broncos have just exploded in value, but I've always liked the second generation better. That one looks nice but I never have interest in something so nice it can't be used. I would think if you spent some time and looked carefully you could find a VERY nice 78-79 for twenty grand. And underpowered? How hard is it to hop up a 351? Not hard.

Looks very similar to the Plymouth Trail Duster my dad used to have. Photo is not of his, his was blue. Can't recall what year it was. Vinyl seats, 8-track, roll bars. Took regular gas, and I believe the top could be removed though I don't recall him ever doing it.

He sold it and got a 91 Dodge Ram Charger, which I believe was more or less the same vehicle under a different make. You have never seen a V8 look so lonely as when you opened that cavernous hood.

That Ram Charger was hideous to drive on the interstate. Steering so loose your hands looked like you were giving dueling HJs just to keep it between the lines at 75 mph.

Look at the cost of the 1st gens that have been fixed up, many into 6 figures.

The new Bronco will be fully announced in July, excited.

I've always thought it was stupid to spend that much on an old car that doesn't have today's amenities, comfort, etc. Idiots.

Now excuse me while I go down to my $20k home theatre system. :)

Those things would go through and over just about anything. Just keeping the wheels on the terra firma was a challenge though.
