No one should be protesting while wearing the uniform of their employers or institution that they represent. Not everyone shares their views.

By that logic no one should pay tribute either (national anthem, or other planned tributes) while wearing the uniform of their employer - not everyone shares their views

Some Husker players took a knee or protested in some manner during a game this year?

Keep it simple. Just a simple answer:
Support them
Be upset.
No problem. That is peaceful protest. Between now and them we need to have developed balanced reasonable legislation and policies regarding how both law enforcement and minority communities can work better together. I would hope that both minority communities and police can be standing there together on the field, having forged a better way to move forward productively. (Ok, I can dream and hope and support such actions - even pray for them for the good of the country and the people living in it).

No issue, lot of people died to defend the right to not stand during the anthem.. we should honor those that served and their sacrifice, standing or not. I wish people would support veterans and this country in more ways than just standing up during a song, but most will check that box and feel their patriotic duty has been completed.

Not really a free country if you have to stand when an anthem is played. That being said, I will stand during every anthem and be choked up when I do out of pride..

I would assume their desire is for attention and not specific results in any tangible way. I would find it lame, at this point. Kind of I like coaches wearing pink shoes.

Unpopular opinion, but I agree. People who have never done **** in their community making trivial virtue signaling gestures and a fake minimal effort, only to return to not giving a **** 2 weeks later. Taking a knee because people on TV did is easy and doesn't solve a damn thing. Do something in your community and advocate others to do the same, or you are spinning your wheels, or trying to steal some spotlight

It's easy to point out how fake others are not knowing their situation. My question is what personally have you done in your life to help others who may be disadvantaged? Have you done mentoring.Helped with someone's home repairs. Provided transportation for someone in need. Maybe just been a good friend.

I own my own business and take very good care of 6 employees who are all good people with families. I have a personal relationship with over 100 customers. I give money to three charities every year. I have an overwhelmingly positive footprint in my community. I have 3 rescued dogs, I am involved In the lives of my niece and my nephews, and I have 7 churches I volunteer services to. Good enough? I don't break the law and I treat everyone i meet decent. I pay my taxes and support local businesses. I clean up my mess at the lake, and I pick up my dog ****. I just do the right thing brother. I dont blame anyone if I'm down, I do what I gotta do to get up. Just like everyone else can. Black white or purple.

Where did you grow up? What were your parents education levels? People born into poverty, growing up in subpar schools, over policed and marginalized as lesser people based on things they literally had no control over don’t have the same opportunity for upward mobility that others do.

People who’s parents and grandparents were literally denied the opportunity to attend white schools. Weren’t allowed to buy houses in neighborhoods because of their skin color, then watched white flight out of city cores taking jobs, taxpayer dollars which caused the educational systems to crumble.

Study the human psyche, understand what happens to the human mind when exposed to poverty at a young age. Things become wired and are difficult to unwire.

All that history makes you decide to not teach your kids that marriage is valuable? That school is important? That drugs ruin your life? Give me a break. Black guys dont raise their kids at nearly an 80% clip. That's why the take the easy road of not trying in school, and not striving to work hard. It's not from systemic oppression. Its their own culture eating itself. Dont want to "act white" and try hard in school. I have a white aunt with 3 half black children, all different dads, none of them around. My sister is a single mom to a p.o.s white guy. Neither case is from oppression. Just a stacking of generational lazy *** victimized mindset. Never shot down by white people, but held down by their own.

Also, born and raised in lincoln to an angry drunk plumber and a worn down high school dropout drunk mom who always resented her marriage to my father. I dont drink or smoke cigarettes. Nor am I college educated. Nor do I work for peanuts at a job I hate.

the story of Asians after WW2 defeats the systemic narrative ... one group gave themselves an excuse and the other didn't

Back to OP, I don’t care if people stand, kneel, sit or prostrate themselves. I came to watch football and enjoy the game.

Totally agree. I just dont consider it any type of a noble gesture. Such an insignificant issue. Does anyone outside of military or family of military really have much a connection with the anthem?

If they kneel there'll be some heat on Frost for sure about loose reins. If he gets bowl eligible it'll go away largely. If he wins 9 or 10 with this schedule, he could probably close PC's with tributes to Mao and it wouldn't matter.

If some kids kneeled there would be heat about Frost loose reigns??? How so? Im curious.

Or from Denzel and many others who know change must start at home. It’s called intellectual honesty.

policy will always lag real change by a decade+. Looking to Washington for help is the same as screaming into a toilet bowl.

Do you, though.

Support them.

Exactly why is it so difficult for people to understand they are not protesting the military. The protest is about police brutality toward the black community. That should be crystal clear by now.

Based off of facts/statistics not some indoctrination of beliefs out of my control. The marginalized population we largely speak of in the cases of "inequalities " are more attributed to issues with the family structure and raising of future productive citizens in given communities. I think that Is lost in all of this. The lack of a father in 80% of black homes speaks to the issues their young people face. What are white people doing from stopping them from not having kids with people that dont even respect them enough to come together and raise their offspring? Only a despicable person abandons their family like that. 80% of black families have that issue. Is that the fault of a system designed to tear only their race down? It's just not the case.

Failing schools, healthcare and housing

3 strikes most Poor children start out with, making the climb out of poverty that much more difficult. There will always be success stories, but making America great should mean equal access to opportunity & resources..... Nutrition is also often ignored. Blacks, other Minorites & women are still paid 25 to 47% less for equivalent work given equal experience, qualifications & education

10:1 wealth gap

The myth of “pulling yourself up by your bootstraps” is a cruel hoax intended to convince people of color that the injustices they face are a result of their own actions, rather than oppressive structures.

you are 100% correct.

it’s criminal the folks who’ve been claiming to care most about these issues over the past 50 years haven’t done anything to address them despite an unbroken streak of being elected into power every single cycle.
