I was going to use that one, but assumed he would just discredit the source because it wasn't of his liking. NPR and NYT are a little harder to discredit.
No this is actually good, I appreciate it. It doesn’t point to whether they were “innocent” or unarmed but it gives a good picture and ultimately those qualifiers likely wouldn’t change the numbers that much.
I also seen that this p.o.s cop has a history of being violent towards white guys as well. Again, I agree cop was 100%wrong. I also detest the idea of institutional racism. I dont think those beliefs have to be exclusive of eachother
Honestly I bet we fall closer on this than it seems, but it’s such a polarizing topic it’s hard to find middle ground. I don’t think all cops are looking for black people to murder, I do think there are definitely things that can be done to help prevent these sorts of issues going forward.
Right on. We need more good men to step up and be cops. We need more good men to stand up for injustice they SEE and not just what they hear about later. It's all about loving eachother despite our differences. We need people in their communities making small differences to get this thing going
I'll agree to a point. Why was he in that position for so long? There was more than one officer there. Cuff him. Kneel on his neck forever?? Pretty sketchy I'd say. But that doesn't justify torching and looting a city. Let alone cities miles away. Protests in Lincoln?? OMG. People got too much time on their hands. This thing will get prosecuted and Minneapolis will write a HUGE check

Your mentality proves what I said in another thread. Wipe and reload law enforcement...processes, use of force methodologies, quality of life for cops, eliminating the corruption and bigger than the law mentality. He would probably still be alive if they would have simply sat him up against the tire of the care and stepped back and let him breath. He wasn’t going to flee the scene.
And now some people got a bunch of tvs and a PlayStation and burned down a city then Omaha and then a Lincoln gas station.
My God damage everywhere in the country and even affecting the college football hall of fame in Atlanta being loitered and damaged...WTH!

I wonder why there are so many riots in so many places lasting for so long, curious what's different about it this time?...it almost has a feel to it, that some people are blowing off steam from being in draconian lock down mode and told to rat on your neighbor if you see them violating social distance rules and not letting people go to work, which most are wired to do, while they lose their jobs and max out credit cards to live and not seeing how they'll ever climb out of the hole they are now in, and they're acting out. Cabin fever X1000 AKA- just looking for a reason to explode.

That is true but it's really unrelated to this situation. Those cops lost their minds when this guy fought them. As the cop on Fox said yesterday, "when he's cuffed and controlled, ITS OVER". Clearly these guys let their anger get the best of them and they'll pay. Their lives as they've known them are over. All of them will likely do jail time and they should.

There is absolutely no excuse for what those 4 cops did to that guy. IF it is true that they checked for a pulse and couldn't find one and didn't immediately start CPR, all 4 of them need to be prosecuted. The guy on the neck for murder and the others as accomplices. Good people screw up but this was WAY more than just a screw up. FWIW, kids pay attention. Don't fight with the cops. All it takes is one (in this case 4) of them to lose their mind and for you to end up dead.

No one thinks Floyd was treated fairly, everyone thinks he was murdered and the cop should be prosecuted. And yet, we still have to loot, riot, destroy, start fires, etc of innocent businesses, some of which are owned by minorities and immigrants!
Shameful, ridiculous, poor excuses for people who are rioting. They aren't protesting a murder. They're using a murder to steal and play out their fantasies. They’re showing who they are.
Logical people want the protestors prosecuted AND the cop(s) prosecuted.

As a side note,
The defense of the cop will lead with a few things, one of which is that the police report says Floyd died at the hospital after police called an ambulance.
This is a technical issue; cops and certain medical personnel cannot officially declare a person dead. It has to be done by a doctor, whether that be at the hospital, or even at the scene. So according to “legal” interpretation, Floyd didn't die under the officers knee, he died at the hospital.
I’m guessing (and hoping) the prosecution lays this technicality out nicely and the jury sees past this b.s., which I’m guessing they will.
I’m also hoping that the autopsy report finds no traces of certain illegal substances in Floyds body, because that can really boost the defense. However, hearing Floyd speak in past videos leads me to believe that while he was involved in some criminal activity at the time, it doesn't seem like he’d be a doper.
He wouldn't have. Theres a video of him questioning actions of the youth today.
I've read that pallets with bricks were placed in areas where the protesters were marching...could have been planted by government officials or cops looking for excuses to use lethal force
I had valid in-transits in my window and the cop pulled me over. It was the middle of the day. I had no idea why I was stopped and they came up and asked if I had proof of purchase. It was bizarre. But now @Iroh2 knows that it has happened to a white person and that reality ain’t what Iroh2 thinks or hopes for. The good thing is that I’m sure Iroh2 will now share this with all his / her friends so that they can understand that it does happen to white people too. Or will Iroh2 not say anything.
Maybe people rioting are distracting from the actual problem? And that statement makes it sound as if destruction (and a person dying during riots, did you miss that? Not to mention injuries) are NOT a problem when they obviously are.
Floyd was killed by a crooked cop while other cops didnt do their job. All were fired. The cop was arrested.
99% of America believes the cop should be in prison or worse. 99% of America, white black orange, believes Floyd should still be alive.
The police force fired them immediately.
He was arrested. This has been deemed an injustice by all. It has national attention.

Well the #1 thing in my mind is firing all the cops involved, which happened.
Its impossible to not have a few crooked cops. Literally impossible. And its impossible to not have incidents where even a good cop gets caught up in the heat of the moment and rage out. They are human. Just like theres crooked teachers, cooks, mechanics, doctors, etc etc. Theyre just human.
The thing you do is make sure other cops who don’t step in are held accountable. 9 minutes was plenty of time for those other cops to realize what was going on and stop the neck thing. They were rightly fired and this will be used in training.
But, as a side note, cops do hold each other accountable and make each other stand down in many incidents. These incidents just dont get national attention, obviously, but we just assume it never happens, even though it does.

Not the most reliable source but it was tweeted by one of the protesters in Dallas, had a video with it.
They claim their are white supremacists and anarchists that have moved in. Supposedly barely anyone arrested has been from the twin cities.
If you understand statistics at a junior high level, you’d realize that there are far more white people than black people, in fact there is about 4.7 times the amount of white people in the US. If we follow that math, take 2,385 white deaths and we should see 507 black deaths, but we actually have 1,254 or 2.5X the expected number.
So a black person in America has 2.5X the likelihood of dying by a police officer than a white person. Please explain that if there is no racism involved. Black men are far more likely to be pulled over, detained, arrested or killed by police officers than white men. What is the reason behind that?
