But as of now, it’s anyone’s guess who it is. Nothing has been posted yet by the player. :(

last years RB from Ohio? He had tons of talent but I believe he got hurt badly and some teams where scared to truly offer him.

Yep correct. We will now have 2 running backs with blown up knees. I trust the staff knows what they are doing.

I know they loved him in HS before the injury. What has this kid been up? Is this a scholarship or a walk-on/greyshirt/blueshirt?

well I always say in cases like R Thompkins (could have easily been a Top 100 RB) and J Bivens (a potentially 5.7 to 5.8 4 star RB)...that if Willis McGahee who and i quote “McGahee famously tore three ligaments in his left knee: the anterior cruciate ligament (ACL), posterior cruciate ligament (PCL) and medial collateral ligament (MCL)” had that happen to him and he came back and had a solid NFL career, then RBs like this can too. Willis knee injury was thought to be, by some, career ending.

that’s my thoughts too...walk on, Grey shirt type thing (like the ones we have that are similar to Giffords) or an offer? Last I heard we told him he could still walk on but we didn’t have a scholarship left for him but that was in the 2019 recruiting class. So I’m curious too.

Hopefully a walk-on. A chronically-injured RB who hasn't played football in a three years doesn't seem to be a good use of a scholarship at this time.

Here’s what Sean Callahan is posting...appears to be a walk on. If he has his knees 100%, he could be the best walk on RB in the BIG 10 ;)

Heck of a walk-on pick up. Hope he can heal up and make an impact.

I would guess that he was told that a scholarship would be available in the future if he shows that he's recovered fully.

I’m ok with that deal. You crack the 3 deep at RB and we’ll put you on scholly. Maybe 4 deep if it’s early in his career- basically just show us you can play.

It's a reach with very high ceilings. Oh, and very dedicated players :)

IF I recall correctly McGahee either had reconstructive surgeries on both knees at one point or had to have one redone. It sure didn't slow him down in that rose bowl. I was down low in the end zone and it seemed like he scored 5 times on our end.:( We couldn't tackle him.

His knee was bent backwards from a headon tackle. Too ugly to bother to run the vid.

Trying to remember... didn't he injure his knee with respect to what Huskerssalts wrote the following season against tOSU in the bowl game?

I know he was injured more than once, but the three torn ligaments came against tOSU as I recall...

That might be correct. I was sure he had one reconstruction before they played us in the Rose Bowl. I tried my buddy Google and I can't find anything about a knee injury before the Rose Bowl. He did blow out his knee in the Fiesta Bowl in January of 03. Then I think he blew out a knee in the pros again. That might be the 2nd knee injury I was thinking of and he came back from that one too I think. The really remarkable thing is that his injuries were just not run of the mill ACLs. They were devastating injuries.

You are correct.

McGahee and Melvin Bratton both blew out their knees in championship games that were their last college games.

McGahee still went in the 1st round of the NFL Draft.

Bratton went in the 6th round in '88, but didn't sign because he thought he deserved better...he then went in the 7th round in '89.

Not a reach at all with either RBs. Had Thompkins not gotten hurt, he’d easily hit the Top 100 range. Per his head coach, Thompkins Head Coach said he was the best player on their team that senior year and they had 2 5 star players playing for them. Now Bivens, I was guessing a high 3 star maybe lower 4 star ranking may have happened had he not got hurt as well. But again, this is if they never had the knee injuries.

I’m really hoping and crossing my fingers Ronald Thompkins comes back 100%. Dude has those elite talents at RB that us Husker fans are always hoping and begging for. Hell, now I’ll do the same for Bivens too. He’s another big RB like M Scott 3

They're reaches because they're hurt. If both these guys come back fully, osu has nothing on us.
Rewatch Bivens vid, see his size speed and wiggle, with some power.
He's 6'1". With that speed, hes upper four star. Remember also, his rating was as a junior, where often they haven't made any jump type looks.
