Those were the days.Good thing they didn't have to play under today's rules. Miami would've won easily with all the penalties for roughing the QB.
Not yet. But when they do, it's a virtual certainty that they will do it "wrong".Have they handed out the blackshirts yet?

Is the Dwayne Harris safety a horse collar tackle? Legal back then I know. But that alone probably completely changes the outcome of the game.
Instead of us getting the ball back and two points, which made it a one position ball game again, Today Miami gets a the penalty which results in a new set of downs and out of their own endzone. Don’t forget the Canes had scored a TD on the previous drive. If they go and score on that drive, games over. We’d lose. That one play changes everything. With a penalty theres Penn state wins the Natty.
but the complete genius of this is with in instant replay in 82, we win the Natty over Penn State. That’s crazy right?
Sort of... both bad calls came in the same game on their final drive... the 4th down out of bounds completion then later the trap in the end zone.I think in that scenario, we get TWO wins over Penn State. My memory has us losing two different games in the early 80s to them. One bad call on the sideline and one in the end zone. Am I remembering this correctly?

The officiating was so horrendous at the end of that game that the refs had to expose themselves for the homers they were not once, but twice to gift wrap the victory for Penn State.
True. But of course, if the game was called the way it is today, TO and staff would have adjusted and we wouldn’t get those penalties. Is the Dwayne Harris safety a horse collar tackle? Legal back then I know. Frazier to the worst HC tackle I’ve ever seen a few years before Against Colorado. . But that Harris safety alone probably completely changes the outcome of the game.

In addition to 82, replay would have also given us another Natty in 93.
If I remember it appeared to be close to a face mask, I think costa even complained to the official or at least pulled on his face mask to the official like it should have been a flagIs the Dwayne Harris safety a horse collar tackle? YES you are correctI think in that scenario, we get TWO wins over Penn State. My memory has us losing two different games in the early 80s to them. One bad call on the sideline and one in the end zone. Am I remembering this correctly?
No it was 2 plays in the same game. Both in the final drive.YES you are correct
Thought he meant the 81 game: Never seen the 1981 game when we lost 30-24 in Lincoln but even if we win that game, I don’t think we win the Natty cause we played for the Natty against Clemson that year anyways and lost.In fact, I just checked YouTube... it was back to back plays. The out of bounds catch with 9 seconds left in the game and the trap in the end zone less than 5 seconds left in the game.
We took care of business the following season destroying them in the kickoff classic 44-6 or something like that...
Yes, we did lose to them in 81 as well. The out of bounds catch and the trap in the end zone were the same game... but we did lose to them twice in the early 80s.Thought he meant the 81 game: Never seen the 1981 game when we lost 30-24 in Lincoln but even if we win that game, I don’t think we win the Natty cause we played for the Natty against Clemson that year anyways and lost.
Excellent point. They’d have had 2 losses thenPenn St might not have went to the Sugar Bowl to play unbeaten Georgia..Of course they would have had to play Nebraska again in the Orange Bowl..
