... Scott’s recruiting ability??? I was just reading THE ATHLETIC about Clemson but at the end is a review of Minnesota’sclass... I’m not interested in rehashing the last thread about history, blah blah... but come on!!! We don’t have a ton of great kids in our state every year... how is this kid not # 1 priority????

sorry... might be the Quarentine talking...

well, he's not the #1 priority because that goes to Teddy Prochazka. you know, the #1 player in the state.

if Dickerson does indeed go to Min, we'll see him once/year. here's hoping all the other in-state kids on the NU roster make welcome him back home properly.

He's recruited better than most programs that have had 3 consecutive losing seasons. I'm more worried about his coaching ability at this point.

If Scott start to pile up some wins with what he's got, it'll be really fun and recruiting will get a major boost. Fleck has a track record of turning teams around so I get why people are attracted to that

We have had Top 20 classes the past two years, despite losing seasons and we have pulled in top end guys like Corcoran and Wandale, that we had not gotten in a long time. FWIW, we have also kicked Minnesota’s *** in recruiting. Minnesota is ranked high because they have so many recruits, but they also only have 4, 4-stars. I guarantee we finish ahead of them in the recruiting rankings again. Like another poster mentioned, I’m am much more concerned about Scott’s in game coaching than his recruiting.

All those are good thoughts, and I know we won’t get every kid we want AROUND us but we ought to get every good kid in state...
I know we have lost Gayle Sayers and the Robinson kid and Larry the linebacker who went to Iowa but that ought to to NEVER happen

^^^^This I challenge someone to find a program with 3 losing season that is recruiting in the top 20. Does Frost and Nebraska need to recruit better 100% yes. I think if we can get the 8-10 win mark you will see recruiting explode.

The idea that we're going to get every single in state guy we want every year is a silly one. We didnt even get Frost.

He’s better than Mike, Bo and Frank. But that doesn’t say much. I do think IF he ever starts getting on a roll (winning games) he will consistently be In the 10-15 range.

Texas and Tennessee did it within the past decade. (Texas has a class ranked 31 with only 18 recruits). Haven’t looked into many other teams.

There is some scuttlebutt that Dickerson's "game doesn't translate very well to P5 football". Did we offer to say we did but we weren't all that worried if he went elsewhere? I don't know. I do know that there's a lot of time left before signing day and Minneapolis being in a blue state will still probably be locked down long after Nebraska is going balls to the walls so we'll see. This one doesn't worry me all that much.

He no doubt was sold immediate playing time by Minnesota and we've got several very good looking very young corners so the depth chart might have affected his decision.

We all hope that is true. But he hasn’t proven it yet.

It's just ridiculous and unrealistic to say "we gotta get every in state kid!" Say "most" and I'm fine. These kids and their families are all different, all motivated by different things. Maybe he's one of those kids that just wants to go somewhere else. Maybe he's lived in Nebraska all his life and he hates it. Who knows? You'll never, ever, ever, ever get them all. News flash, probably none of them are as "into" Nebraska football as we are.

I'd agree....and, as another poster said, even Frost didn't initially choose Nebraska....and that was with Tom, not Frank, Bill, Bo, or Mike recruiting him.

I'd imagine that these in-state kids grow up as Husker fans, but I think when it comes down to choosing a school and program, it's a different reality. Like you said...families are different, and sometimes kids want to try something different...and I can't fault them for that.
