He’s an attention *****. Not a team player. Step daddy still coaches from the stands. Not impressed and not a loss.

Never thought I'd see the day when Lincoln produces a 4* basketball prospect (deserved or not) that Nebrasketball could have had, instead said no thanks, and were seemingly justified in doing so.

There is more to than just talent, talent has to fit program as well. Never seen the kid play but I would expect a 4* really stand out in Neb, and there are others posting, not so much.

Hope he chooses wisely. Last Lincoln kid who picked the Whorns rode the pine for 90% of his career. Not certain Shaka is still in Austin in 2 years at current winning trajectory. KSU is probably a safe play. Kid should go to UNO but won’t.

He had every opportunity to sign in November and chose not to because he didn’t feel the love from the coaching staff. The staff would have been ok with him signing but weren’t completely sold on him because they had never seen him play in person and had no idea how he would respond coming off of ACL surgery. Then they recruited Teddy Allen and that was the final straw for him because he wasn’t feeling the love and wanted to be the man.

He would not have played next year over Teddy Allen, Dalano Banton, Shamiel Stevenson, Kobe King, Kobe Webster, Thor, and Trey McGowens. He would have transferred after riding the bench his first year anyway.

Fred is going to build this program with mostly transfers, he's only going to take a high school recruit if they are good enough to play right away. And with the amount of players that transfer every year, that's not a bad plan. So I wouldn't worry too much about missing on high school recruits.

He's too good for uno

This is what we’ve done for years. Turn our nose up at local talent and embrace lesser talent from far away places that we know little about. But it’s only natural. Even Jesus Christ Himself had few believers in his hometown.

The problem is that he's a volume shooter but not a volume maker. He can overpower his defender in high school. I've been told that Fred doesn't think his game translates well to the B1G.

Remove the fact that he's from Lincoln and he instantly becomes anonymous among the most easily replicated skill set in basketball. An athletic wing who likes to get to the basket. Not especially big, not a great shooter. I wish he had signed with us but he literally was gone the instant Teddy signed. I'm sure he'll kill it wherever he goes because that's how things usually go.

He's a Tim Miles player through and through. Big long athletic wing that cant shoot a lick.

Fred’s success at Iowa State stemmed from a core of 4 year players (Monte Morris, Niang, Matt Thomas and mitrou-long) with transfers filling the voids. Feel free to correct me where I’m wrong, not an expert at cyclone hoops.

all 4 of those players have played in the nba. So impressive.

You forgot the best one of them all, Royce White who was also a transfer.

Fred turned ISU around at first with mostly transfers - Royce White, Chris Allen, Will Clyburn, Tyrus McGee, DeAndre Kane, Dustin Hogue. Once Hoiberg turned the program around after Year 2-3, he was able to get a handful of good high school recruits like Niang, Morris, and Thomas. I imagine that's how it will be here.

But even later in his tenure at ISU, he still brought in quite a few transfers - Abdel Nader, Jameel McKay, Bryce Dejean-Jones, Deonte Burton. Most years he would only bring in 2-3 high school recruits.

Is this the guy that shot like 1-13 from 3 in the biggest profile game last season? I think I read he was sub-40% from the field and like a 25% 3-point shooter on the year. He's an athletic wing that should be focusing on being a lock-down defender if he wants to contribute at the next level.

I’ll get killed for this.... but I don’t see a 4* prospect out of him. I trust in Fred’s eval

Wouldn't go that far. Listed at 6'5" he is probably a legit 6'3" 175 pounds and that is good enough to warrrant 4* when you throw in the basketball skills and production. Problem seems to be that he thinks he is a #1 option when he has not shown that type of ability. Guarantee other programs are trying to get him in by telling him what he wants to hear. Fred probably told him he would be a contributor but not "the man."

Pretty spot on. He was at Speedway Village during youth basketball and there's no way he's 6'5". He did make a couple 3's sitting on the front row of the bleachers though! LOL

According to Maxpreps, Williams shot 30% from 3 this year and 44% from the field overall. So not great, but he was a high-volume shooter - he took an average of 20 shots per game from the field, including 10 3-pointers per game. Against Millard North, he went 1 for 14 from 3-point range.

Was a shame he settled for all those 3s because he got to the rim any time he wanted. Played solid D on Sallis as well.

It's a problem that plagues many, many players of all ages. Nobody wants to hear that they could be a good lock-down defender. They just want to blast up half-court threes and take horrible off-balance shots like they saw the NBA players in the highlights do.

His D couldn't have been that solid on Sallis.....Sallis had 27 points and shot 67% against North Star. Or is Sallis just that good?

Believe a bunch of coaches were in the stands which contributed to this mindset.

He didnt guard him much. Iso before halftime, sallis didnt even get a shot off. Then he guarded him quite a bit in the 4th and did a good job.

thought he had a Ku offer.....
According to Robin Washut, he never held a KU offer. KU had shown some interest, but never offered. Also, the word is that he was committed to KSU, but when one of Okie Lite's top targets went elsewhere, that opened up a spot and he officially committed to them.
