How will covid-19 effect the Spring Game?

the problem with a pandemic is people are dying and sickened long before science can gather a consensus...the first study about Covid took about 40 days to complete..at that point we were looking at a full outbreak. Viruses often produce a massive range of results as they move through the population. Covid for example can seriously damage your testicles and kidneys, or you might be 60 and just get an 8 hour fever and nothing else...you might be 21 and die from drowning on your own immune system... or your might take 40 days to die from sepsis...these four cases make it sound very confusing...but they are only four out of a probable 300k-1 million that have already occurred. There is obviously some immunity issues because the elderly have huge death rates, while the young are not killed at all...this has to be because the young have recently been exposed to other mild corona-viruses as they are the most likely to get seasonal coronaviruses. It might take 10 years of study before we really know about this virus...and by then it will change.
Things are very different in the Pacific Northwest.

Inslee didn’t disclose many details about the actions being contemplated but did say “social activities” could be curtailed.
“I’m going to a meeting in about an hour about this subject right now,” he said in an interview on the CBS show “Face the Nation.”
The governor joined state Department of Health officials, local health officials, mayors and others Sunday to discuss about possibilities, spokeswoman Tara Lee said. Officials aren’t yet ready to share information on options, she said.
“These are multi- jurisdictional decisions and they are complicated,” Lee said in an email, adding, “We do not have decisions yet and nothing will be finalized today.”
There are at least 116 novel coronavirus cases in Washington, including 18 deaths, state officials have said. King County has seen 17 deaths, including two more announced Sunday, and Snohomish County has seen one.

I been watching it spread since late december, and it interesting how predictable it is, the first case, then 3, the 17, then 56 then 102...etc..
and it's acted exactly how you would suspect it would, countries with a lot of travel with china got it first, then eventually africa, russia and south america.
I hope something in nature stops it, like warm weather etc...the problem I see is how the US system is requires a lot of travel and mixing with people, the economy depends on it. so I don't see it getting shut down as fast as having china's ability to lock down a lot of things... heck if we even try to protect the border pelosie blows a gasket.
I was hoping the US health care could have stopped it at the border, but the border is too fluid, and I don't think the US government seen what was coming, or at least didn't have the will to take action in a timely matter.
we are around 400 cases right now, in a week Im thinking it will be 1000.
2 weeks 2000. again I been watching this for sometime and it pretty predictable. I just asked how it will effect the spring game cause, it's effecting the lakers already. and I don't see the state patrol reading temps at the border of folks driving thru nebraska.
one good thing is that the US travels in cars more then trains, and people have a choice where they assemble (besides work). big US cities are a different matter

Wow, nice stereotype. I'm happy you have so much faith in our education system that turns out all these young geniuses who are so much more informed than us old fools. I guess our "science education" wasn't good enough to invent cool stuff like transistors and CAT scans and MRIs, etc.
The Corona virus coverage sort of reminds me of the disappearance of Chandra Levy back in 2001. She disappeared in Spring of 2001 and was featured (along with Congressman Gary Condit) in morning to night coverage on all networks all summer. Lord did I get sick of turning on the tube and hearing about the disappearance. Then 9/11 happened and we didn't hear much about her again until they found the body a year later and that was basically a footnote. It is good that right now not a lot of other bad stuff is happening in the world so the networks are filling up air time with the Corona virus, but man, IMHO it is a bit of overkill.
sigh....it is 2-3% for the entire population. It hasn't killed a single human younger than 9...only 1 between 10-19... and has killed about 70 between the ages of 20-50. That means 90%-95% of those who will die are older than 60....but they actually make up a relatively small portion of those infected. The most infected age group is 30-50. The stats are clear...if you are older 60...you are likely to have comorbid conditions...and you have a 10-15% chance to die from this virus...if you are older than 75...you are looking at 20-25% chance. By the numbers...this is spanish flu for the elderly. Young people are carriers and are often asymptomatic, which is great for them...they will break containment and spread the thing and feel great doing it. The virus is extremely contagious in close living conditions...something that many elderly are exposed to...as they are often reliant on some sort of care. And a deep lung pneumonia, that exposes the sick to secondary infections, along with sepsis are top killers of the old anyway. The medical care for those that have gotten it has been very good, but it is going to slide and the death rate for ARDS patients will increase. The idiotic responses to this thing are well documented historically...the rude and ignorant will fall back on ignorance...same reason so many americans have heart disease, diabetes, obesity, even though these are preventable conditions. I hope I am wrong...but as I type this...one region of one country just had 133 deaths in 1 day...every death was over 60...and they have 600 in critical condition...after just two weeks.
I think they play it in the fieldhouse w no crowd. NET covers it. Can I come to your place & watch?...I don't have an antenna. I'll bring my high-tech thermometer that shows the last 10 readings.
Not everyone holds the same darwinism faith. Virology is completely different.

I flew in to Eppley late last night with a girl's basketball team from Everson ? College who is playing in their national tournament in Omaha I guess. They said they're happy to be in Omaha right now. One of their coaches wiped down his entire row of seats with Clorox wipes when he got on the plane then proceeded to order food and drink from the stewardess.
I'm very concerned about the virus but man there's only so much you can do. When you go through security at a large airport you are forced to handle tubs that thousands of people have handled in a day. Then you stand nose to ******* in lines for long periods of time. Then hours in a completely enclosed cramped tube with 150 other people from all over the world. IF we really wanted to slow this thing down, we would HAVE to completely shut down mass transit including the airlines. It's not going to happen. We need to just suck it up and hope for the best and those of us over 60 with some form of pre-existing medical issue need to make sure our affairs are in order "just in case".Had this similar discussion yesterday at the dinner table. My brother told me that air is changed out often on a plane. I didn't know that. So read about it. I guess I'll buy the fact that it's changed out AND mixed with cabin air and fresh oxygen. Yes, it isn't the recirculated air - it's everything that you and everyone else touches that can cause a problem. (which is why I'm planning on bringing lots of my home made sanitizer on my flights since our local stores sold out of it weeks ago.)
I know, but unfortunately those products sold out as well as any kind of Lysol spray. Last I checked you can still get rubbing alcohol but that might be gone now. Our shelves have been emptied for quite a while.

I'm not sure about anyone else's employer, but the company I work for is based out of Milan Italy and they took a ton of steps there to fight this. We now just got our own statement today basically cancelling all meetings, no travel, no face to face meetings with clients, etc.. Yes, I think they government can do better, but I also don't think we need to rely on them. I imagine, and would hope, other employers are doing the same as mine to make sure they try to keep their employees from making the spread of this thing happen.
this corona thing will be a good lesson for all of our government ( democrat and republican) on why the founding fathers said the second job of the federal government under the united states of America constitution is border control (first job is military)

It isn't too bad considering it's the best I can do right now. I found the 91% alcohol and use 2 parts of it to 1 part aloe vera plus a few drops of lavendar essential oil. It smells really alcoholly but oh well. I know that it isn't as good as the store bought kind but it is what it is.
And the alcohol smell dissippates quickly.
In an interesting twist Wazzu is keeping their dorms open for spring break (next week) so students don't have to go back home to the Seattle area.
Right! And then we go home and accidentally pass it on to the elderly and infants.
Just pore the alcohol on your hands. Then wash your hands.
If you are not washing your hands it doesn't matter who you stay away from.

Um since this seems to be directed to me I'll respond. I do wash my hands. Frequently. However, like most people I have a job and that job doesn't allow me to be constantly washing my hands. I will be flying on a plane. Perhaps I should just stay in the bathroom washing my hands.
I use hand sanitizer when there is no other option. BTW the aloe vera is to prevent your hands from being totally dried out from frequent sanitizing,
