I am worried about how many piss balloons he will get hit by before he gets out of Boulder.

Actually, if I was a Michigan State fan, I would be worried. Dude straight up cheated on CU and left for the hotter girl (albeit with a ton of baggage). Imagine how that would feel if you're a Michigan State fan. Good chance that if he does well at MSU, he's turkey-neckin' around for the next hottie in the south.

These situations happen constantly and yet some are still surprised.

The reality is the supply of quality coaches is not able to meet the demand.

He got out, while the getting was good. CU was able to be fairly competitive because they still had Montez and those WR's, next year they will be terrible.

Does Colorado still have one year contract for their football coach? Has to be renewed yearly

Not sure on that.

Best way to find out is to ask Scavenger when he comes back in here.

Whatever his answer is, the exact opposite will be accurate.

The amount of money being thrown out to these coaches is really hard to get your arms around. Tucker was 5-7 in his one year as a head coach with 4 of those wins by less than a touchdown, including the game with NU which we blew. He easily could have been 4-8 or worse.. With this new contract with MSU, his college coaching career could end with 5 career wins and he will be set financially for life. While alot of what happened here is not surprising, how low the bar is getting on what it takes to get a $5 million+/year guaranteed contract is.

If I recall correctly, I think that's just for assistant coaches. I believe there are some exceptions and some wiggle room, but it still makes the head coaching job less attractive than it would otherwise be.

How many programs would be able to keep their coach of Bama or LSU or Georgia came calling?

Answer: Not many. not many at all.

If one of those big boys come calling, that means Tucker killed it at MSU, which Im fine with.

Hold on here, right now we live in a glasshouse. We just paid 10 million for 9 wins over the last two years.

Well....to borrow the optimism around here.....he also had 3-4 close losses....so yes, they could have been worse than 4-8.....but they also could have just as easily been a bowl team. They led USC from the 2nd quarter until about 2 minutes left in the game, and lost after blowing a 10-point lead. Winning that one by itself puts them at 6-6 and in a bowl.

Right now I'm not worried about any other coach. I'm just worried about our own program getting back on the winning track already. Once that happens then, and only then, will I start worrying about any other coaches or other programs.

Thats the mind boggler. He isn't a quality coach. The dude has 1 year at 5-7. His offense ranked in 100s last year and I believe his D was only in the 80s. His recruiting was 40th and 35th. I just don't see the draw for Mich St.

That's weird, I just clicked on your profile and see you've posted about 7 times in the last week on Dantonio, Snyder, Fickell and Tucker. It's a long offseason, we've got time to worry about all kinds of things.

NU may have overpaid for Frost - time will tell. However, following his 0-12 to 12-0 turnaround at UCF, Frost was likely going to get his $5 mil from somebody if not NU. Tucker doesn't have that on his resume. If Frost had started his career at NU instead of UCF with the record he has here, I would be surprised if someone came knocking with a $5 million+ offer, just like I am with Tucker.

That said, if Frost gets this ship turned around, he's worth more than $5 mil/year.

AND I didn't say I was worried about any one of them. Following the news does not equal worrying about someone. Weird how people confuse things that way. Laughing

Fair point. Money talks. So let's say he does kill it at MSU. You wouldn't want him to stay, like Tom Izzo has? Izzo could have easily left for the ACC a while ago but he built a damn competitive program instead.

I'm just not down with these type of coaches that bail on kids after 1 year. I.E. Willie Taggart, Lane Kiffin, and many others like them. It doesn't do their intergrity a ton of good on the recruiting trail. I understand this is slightly hypocritical since Frost left UCF after 2 years. I understand your stance.

Here's to Tucker killing it at MSU, for the school, Big 10 conference, and more turkey neckin' around!

I'm the furthest thing from a Colorado fan, but he did a pretty good job recruiting at CU this past year, no?

Not saying he's the next Nick Saban or anything, but look at the whole package on him. He's been on Saban's staff at every college stop Saban has made an a head coach. Must be something about him that he likes

After that lousy game last season, I did some research....when he was the Browns DB coach, his unit was 7th in the NFL in interceptions in the years that he was their DB coach...despite them being the Browns.

As far as recruiting classes go, I think CU had been on the 40s, 50s, and maybe even the 60s the past few years. Given that, going to 40 and 35 is an accomplishment.

He's going to have some growing pains, but I thought he was a solid hire for CU, and I think Sparty definitely could have done worse.

Oh for sure they could have done worse. I just don't think they could have done better. He is mediocre coach as of now, who is a dart throw. Most programs like Mich St, with their baggage. They don't have a ton of high quality options.

The timing was terrible/weird for MSU. That limits options. I'd rather have Tucker than some of the recycled puke we see a lot (refer to my December 4, 2014 remark above).

I saw a tweet from the Denver Post from CU receiver K.D. Nixon...I kind of caught the vibe from that tweet that Tucker did not address the team.
It was mentioned on the radio that Tucker requested to speak to the players this afternoon and was denied. Don't let the four hit ya on the way out I guess.
