Dang, that's a big surprise. Wonder if he's getting a full assistant coach job there. On to Plan B.
I hope this is wrong. And if it’s correct, Frost better get on it with someone else. Our special teams need help in a very bad way. Snyder has to be considered one of the best, if not the best Special Teams Coach out there and if he’s headed to USC...we bombed it BADLY. You’d think the Tom Osborne and Bill Snyder connection would have helped us pull in Sean.
Per USC Rivals site earlier reference of Helton nearing decision to fill open assistant coaching positions that included a Special Teams coach. So I'd interpret that as an open on field coaching position vs Husker Special Teams Analyst role. I'd venture to guess he leveraged the Husker offer (if one actually existed) to up the money offer from USC. Next !
On the 1620 round table this morning they discussed other things that contributed to the poor special teams play so maybe we’ll be OK
DeWitt was the ST coach, just because our ST sucked doesn't mean it isn't a priority. After all, the guy isn't around anymore.
So is this a “coach-in-waiting” gig? Otherwise, he’s going to be out on his *** in a year, maybe less

I don’t know you and I bet you could coach special teams better than anyone we have had in at least five years. If it were truly a priority then Frost would step in himself because Dewitt did an awful job, anyone can see that,even Frost.
My questions are, do we need 2 guys coaching linebackers and do we need a TE’s coach? A lights out special teams unit would have gotten us to a bowl game in each of the past two years. We can very easily miss out on a bowl next year too if we keep making elementary mistakes.
I coached special teams at a High School way back when, it was a train wreck.
But, I seriously think the kicking situation led to most of our special teams problems. ST were very good for DeWitt at UCF.
I do think in a 3-4 it is best to have 2 LB coaches, but there is no reason Chin couldn’t coach the OLB and be DC, which would free up a spot. Also agree with you on Beckton simply being TE coach, that spot is often tied to a ST coach.
The kind of connection where two can relate personal experience. Kinda like you and your gerbil. Although I think you two take it to another level.
That is weird. It's almost like the guy has free will or something and can make his own decisions. Very strange.

With Lubick on board maybe that frees up Frost a little to take charge of special teams. It doesn't have to be as complicated as some of these guys make it.
exactly. Snyder = Head coach in waiting? Their administration screwed themselves and their program over by stringing Helton along the way they did. Didn't even make the top 50 in recruiting.

This is so true...us coaches are always like "Well, special teams is 1/3 of the game" then practice starts and we spend like 10 minutes on special teams (per week)...and that is after the first full week of practice. Ha
I heard they coached in the same conference but so do hundreds of coaches so I was thinking it must have gone beyond that for it to be considered so “special” for many of you.
Fine. Is Bill Snyder available for a ST consulting position? We could use a man that is detailed oriented!
Bill Snyder was an assistant at USC under McKay back in the day. Sean may have even been conceived in LA.... not sure
So easy anyone could it right? Well, our coaches couldn't so what does that say.
You are obviously not talking from a position of knowledge so you are forgiven this time. There is a reason there are ST coaches and we were apparently looking at ST analyst. But really, any 9th grader can do it.
IF this is all true, Im going to guess being a coach vs a analyst played a big part in it. So far it appears frost is putting special teams on the back burner. Which is a big mistake imo, Special teams is very important part of the team. Just as important as D and O. Treating it as an after thought, could and has bit us in the butt in close games.
