The caucus idea seems fun but not sure how accurate it is. My sister and family live in Iowa and do the Hawkeye cauceye. Sounds like kind of a joke. She said a lot of people take it seriously but many intentionally go to the under 15% area so they can get bribed to go to the other candidates. They literally bribe them with brownies, pizza, BBQ etc. Sounds like anything but booze is fair game.Perhaps the only saving grace may be cost to taxpayers of caucuses, which I would assume is zero. As a registered Independent I like that idea. Why should I pay taxes for a political party’s gathering?
In Arizona — and I suspect many states — any registered voter can vote in either a Democrat or Republican general primary. This includes the huge number of Independents. Why? Probably because all taxpayers are paying the primary election’s hefty costs thru taxes. But in our Arizona Presidential Preference Primaries only members of the party can vote. While on the surface that may seem reasonable, what makes it unreasonable is that all taxpayers pay for these “private gatherings.”
From what I read, Homeland Security offered to test it but the DNC turned them down. Same app that Nevada Democrat are usingWouldn't want to be the person, persons or tech company responsible for developing that new caucus app. What a national embarrassment! Didn't anybody test this thing out in advance?
Read that too but surely both the tech company that developed it and the Iowa Democratic party would have rigorously tested it in advance. People dropped the ball here. Reminds me of that first Obamacare web fiasco. From what I read, Homeland Security offered to test it but the DNC turned them down. Same app that Nevada Democrat are using
Yep. Showed picture of Iowa Dem headquarters at around 5AM. Lights were on and nobody home. Kinda like the app.... except that was more like lights out. Why would the green new deal people leave lights on in an empty building? How dare you!!Read that too but surely both the tech company that developed it and the Iowa Democratic party would have rigorously tested it in advance. People dropped the ball here. I think they found the app in podestas email at the dncFrom what I read, Homeland Security offered to test it but the DNC turned them down. Same app that Nevada Democrat are using
The caucus is also terrible because it selects for people who can show up for a few hours on a specific night. Not very representative of democracy. I presume nobody who works at night, is a single parent (and there's no child care on site), is bed ridden, or is serving overseas gets to participate.Yeah the caucus is dumb and is only popular because it's the first major delegation event for the presidential race
