Haven't seen this type of talent being brought in since Callahan got guys like Suh and Prince...etc..All it takes is hitting on a Suh to change your team. He carried us to within a second of a Big 12 title. Frost got the ball rolling last year with guys like Wandale, Ty, Benhart..etc. Add this year's class of speed speed and more speed he is really building something special in Lincoln. Speed kills!! GBR!!!

We have consistently beaten much of our conference competition on Rivals recruiting rankings. Let’s just hope these coaches are much better developers than the ones from the past 15 years or so.

From the big boys on the O line to the studs at RB and WR. To the talent at QB on O. Defense with the talent and speed so sorely need at LB to all the playmakers in the secondary. Feel like a kid at Christmas ready to play with all the shiny new toys.Eek

We will have at least 10 four-star recruits in this class. Last year, we signed 11. In 2018, it was 9.
  • 2020 — 10 four-star recruits
  • 2019 — 11
  • 2018 — 9
  • 2017 — 7, but only 1 remains (McQuitty)
  • 2016 — 4
  • 2015 — 6
  • 2014 — 4
  • 2013 — 5
  • 2012 — 6
  • 2011 — 11
Those 2011 4-stars didn't have much of an impact:
  • Peat
  • Charles Jackson
  • Aaron Green
  • Santos
  • Sterup
  • Starling
  • Stafford
  • Klachko
  • Jamal Turner
  • Tyler Moore
  • Ryne Reeves
It's time we started hanging onto and developing these highly regarded recruits into all-conference players, while also turning those three-stars into starters and contributors, and those walk-ons into special teams dervishes.

Peat=nasty back injury. Aaron Green didn't want to compete with Ameer. Santos played a bunch and then flaked out. He was developed. Sterup started a bunch of games even with a chronic ankle injury and ended up in the NFL. Starling never made it. Bo should have known he wouldn't. Stafford played a bunch and at a pretty high level. Jamal Turner blew out a knee and was never the same. Moore would have been better off staying at NU. Reeves IF I remember right had a knee issue. Not sure where he ended up. I think Charles Jackson was a knee injury deal too. BETTER S&C might hopefully prevent some of those knees.

You can NOT expect this class to change our fortunes over night. While I agree losing seasons are unacceptable, the way these guys have recruited is going to have us where we want to be. Patience.

Good class. Comparable to 2011 (11 four-star) or 2007 (10 four-star). Below the 2005 class, but that was (on paper) the gold standard for the post-Osborne era (2 five-star, 11 four-star, including Suh, Octavien, and Zac Taylor).

The 2007 class featured some amazing players in Niles Paul, Roy Helu, and Prince Amukamara. It would be nice to get that kind of production out of this group.

Only 4 remain in the 2018 class as well as 2 out of the 2016 class with one of those being Raridon. A couple of the 2019 class burned red shirts and contributed heavily. 2020 has to see some infusion of youth from both the 2019 and 2020 classes, especially those new JUCOs.

2018: Wilderman needs to produce.
2019: R. Johnson, Hannah/Henrich, Benhart, Pola-Gates, Green, Nance, T. Robinson. Some combo of the 3-4 of these guys needs to step up big time.
2020: Some of the skill position guys and the JUCOs should fight for spots.

Exactly. Of the four-star players we've recruited from 2016-2020, the players who will be on the roster for 2020 includeL
  • 2 in their fifth year (Dismuke and Raridon)
  • 1 in his fourth year (McQuitty)
  • 4 in their third year (Martinez, Wildeman, Jurgens and Tannor)
  • 10 in their second year
  • 10 in their first year (with other commits still possible)
The talent is improving, but it's still mostly very young. That's where the four-star JUCOs (Manning and Mauga) come in.

One thing I am really excited about is the staff not only getting putting together highly rated classes, but getting true depth at positions of need and positions Nebraska has struggled to recruit for what seems like decades.

Look at QB and OT. After next season, this staff will ahve brought in at OT: Prohaska (#57 overall), Corcoran (#58 overall), Benhart (#139 overall) in consecutive years along with guys like Banks, Lynn, Anderson, Fritzsche, and Conn. To me, that is incredible. Previously we had years where we had one scholarship tackle body in the two deep.

For the QB room, we have true depth to the point of overcrowding. And what a blessing that is. When was the last time we were 4 deep with studs at QB? Hell, we went back to back stints of 4 years without a QB competition. Most of those years without a true backup.

Going forward I expect this staff to not have such position heavy classes (last year for o-line - this year for LB). Once the wins start coming, I really think this staff can pull classes hovering around the top 10.

Yes, what this staff is doing with 3 losing seasons in a row is astounding. While I don't think we'll have a top 20 class for 247, we will probably hang on to 19 or 20 on Rivals once the dust settles. It is still a great class though.

While I agree, stacking classes and developement along the way, it is a foundation being built.
Having depth at most positions just wasnt something weve had.
Notice,Bos best class was junk, he made some errs, but bad luck cut it down. If he'd had a class before and after, it wouldn't be known for the bust it was.
Getting special players happened alot under TO, rarely under Bo. This needs to change.

I will say the West is gaining ground on us. Wisc Mary Purdue Iowa and MN are all within 12 spots from us. NW Mich St, Indiana are withing 20 spots.. Only Illinois and Rutgers are way down in the 60s.

I expect this program to make some strides in Frost 3 year asking for No more losing seasons is why we hired SF and this staff..

No one is going to disagree with that and I’m not asking everyone from this class to contribute just enough along with the past 2 classes...

No more blaming the culture before SF took over...

9and4, I love you. I actually think you are a Herkie turned Husker now, you have consistently posted this way for well over what, 2 years? No BS.

My guess is you see the long-term upside. Iowa will always be Iowa. 9-something. Slow. No real upside. We rebel against 9-anything. Always will. GBR

How about no more ultimatums? My expectations are that we'll be competitive and probably get bowl eligible. On the other hand, IF we were to lose Wandale, AM, Vedral and McCaffrey to injuries for varying stretches like we did this year then I'll temper my expectations. The starting QB is a HUGE deal and we don't have the developed depth that Tom did when he was able to go to Turman and just hand the ball off to squeak out a win. The culture IMO will be in place this fall to win games. It's a matter of developing this class and last year's class primarily and those impact guys will mostly just be sophomores. IMO, he gets a minimum of 4 years before anybody needs draw lines in the sand.

Hopefully Nebraska can keep more of these guys from this year and last year into their upperclassmen years. It would be a lot of fun to see how those guys develop rather than transferring out before their time is up.

QB injuries and play, O line early in the year and linebacker play the first 7-8 games were our main issues. That was enough. I'm a closet UCF fan now. I got to see your head coach play in high school for one of our rivals. Good guy. Very good coach IMO and I hope he stays at UCF for a long long time. Who wouldn't want to coach in Orlando for heaven's sake? I hope they can pay him enough AND get in a P5 conference so he'll stick around for the next 25 years.

Bingo. That says it all. Maybe "especially" our early OLine.....I was shocked how far they turned around late in the year. I could hardly believe it!

My impression is that any 4 star below 6.0 is no better than a 3 star. Rivals bloats the ratings to make for good entertainment. Just think how excited people got when a recruit had a 5.8 rating vs. a 5.7 rating. That player could still have hundreds of better players front of them but we were SOOOOOO jacked because of the extra star. There are around 300 to 400 four stars...and these only filter out to about 50 power 5 schools. That means a team can have plenty of four stars...and never have a chance at even breaking into the top 25. To me that says the rankings are inflated to entice subscribers. We are still thin on the top 100 players which are so common among the best teams...and this class is particularly thin on kids who were recruited by top 10 teams or coaches. But it got us excited to follow recruiting.

I think there is a big difference between a 5.9 four star and a 5.5 three star. I agree that there is minimal difference between a 5.8 and a 5.7 rated kid.

For reference, Omar Manning a 5.9 four star and Jordon Riley is a 5.5 three star. Both are JUCO's. I consider Manning to be head and shoulders a bigger prospect.

While Fleming (5.8) is 'on par' with Brown (5.7), IMO.
