Punter is a HUGE position of need for this team!
According to the Google, this year he averaged 38.4 yards per punt and over 50% of his kickoffs resulted in a touchback.Eek Holy s••t that is truly a bomb... do you know how the wind was blowing in that game? I don’t wanna take anything from him because even if it was at his back 79 yards is a heck of a kick... and from what I seen it didn’t bounce far and take a long roll either that was basically all in air... what was his average per punt? That kid may have just earned himself a free degree some where... but if he can do kick offs too I’d say we better get him locked up
I rewatched a few times and that ball landed just outside the 30 id say about 32 and rolled to the 16... so he only got an extra 16 off the bounce and roll... man that’s an outstanding punt no matter how you look at it
Don't know much about there Basketball team but there Volleyball team just won state. There wresting team is usually always dominate. And everyone know there football success. I would love to see them in Class AStill such BS that Skutt is in Class B. For a team that can recruit any kid they want, they should make them play in Class A, especially being in the metro. Don't give me the well they only have Class B type enrollment. Schools out west don't get the luxury to recruit. They wonder why people hate them... /end rant.

Punting average isn’t that great.According to the Google, this year he averaged 38.4 yards per punt and over 50% of his kickoffs resulted in a touchback.
He has a walk-on offer, but I think we just give the kid a scholarship.
I believe that photo/video is south stadium. If so he would have been kicking into a pretty stiff ne windEek Holy s••t that is truly a bomb... do you know how the wind was blowing in that game? Maybe the NSAA should do away with keeping score. After the games, teams can go have ice cream together. Everybody wins.Force Scutt into class A where they belong and I bet all those privileged, entitled, dont want to compete at a real school will move to Mount Marty or Bennington.
Anything to win championships

Never said they were cheating. Said they are playing in a lower division to win championships. Just like the old softball team that should play in tip level tournaments, but sign up for a lower level tournament to guarantee a win.
Happens in all kinds of club sports. Pius X made a living off of dominating class B until the enrollment in other class B schools finnaly forced them to class A.
I've always respected Columbus, they have done everything they can to stay in class A.
I'm not stupid, even in my nieces and nephews should have been in public class a schools, but enrolled in private to chase championships at a smaller class school.
It happens all of the time
So they should add more students just to get to class A? The enrollment dictates the class.
What advantage would that give them?
Not many students go to Skutt just for athletics. Why would someone send a kid to a private school and pay for that? Almost all students there have gone to parochial schools since kindergarten. And that wasn't for sports.
I just don't get the thought they are hiding from competition. I can promise you academics play a much bigger part in that school than athletics.
Yankton, South Dakota, last time I checked.Skutt wins because God rewards those who pray the hardest.
Anyway, where is Mount Marty?

To your point about Skutt, take a look at their volleyball schedule. I was looking at it out of curiosity when I noticed a couple of teams swept all three matches in the state tournament (Skutt being one of them). Outside of the matches they have to play against conference opponents (River Cities Conference), Skutt played almost exclusively Class A teams (and performed well) and a couple out of state teams. So it's like they want to be Class A by association. (They didn't lose a single set to a Nebraska Class B opponent, I remember that.)Skutt is close enough to get students from OPS, Millard, Elkhorn, Gretna, and Papillion. Name me a city in Nebraska between roughly 5,000-19,000 people (The approximate spread of class B towns like Crete or Seward to Hastings or Columbus), who can match that population, potential talent pool and more importantly the $$ in the areas near Skutt. No other class B school in this state has the advantages Skutt has.
I live very close to Skutt and know and have known a lot of parents who have sent their kids to Skutt for sports. I fail to see how just about any of their state championships are anything impressive. In fact it is pretty much a colossal failure when they don’t win. Especially now that the Elkhorn schools and Gretna got moved to A.
Spare me the enrollment argument. That’s a hollow point and everyone deep down inside should know that it is. If you don’t, you are delusional. These Nebraska cities that have class B teams can’t even dream to have the numbers to cherry pick from that Skutt can. It is apples and oranges.
Skutt is good enough in most sports to play and compete in A, but the bitching you hear from Skutt loyalists about that possibility confirms what it is, a chase for championships. Sorry, truth hurts.
have Omaha/Lincoln wealthy suburb schools split up their school populations, too much?
they should kept them larger, if so.
move the privates into the next higher class, its fair.
also, public schools (everywhere) may have to educate the kids with special needs, but they get a huge subsidy not having to educate everyone that pays property taxes.
its my understanding in Nebraska those are pretty stout.
thats a weak argument.
In IL there is a multiplier of 1.65 for those without boundaries. The school can ask for an exception (grant a lot of waivers though...often a waiver if you have not wind a playoff game in last few years). Schools give scholarships to high school for sports to those jr high kids that look like stars as they head to high school. Interestingly enoufh that does not exist for those really good at math.Enrollments are based on a limited geographic area for most of the Class B schools that Skutt competes with. Skutt doesn’t have that limitation, they are located in a fertile area close to most of the biggest and arguably richest districts in the state.
Why would parents pay for that???? Did you just ask that question? How old are you? Have you lived in SW Omaha/Millard area long? As a life long resident I find that question laughable.
Of course they are ducking competition. How else do you get people to pay what 10k a year?
Do a lot of these kids go to catholic schools K-12? Yes. They also play the top level in all sorts of sports that the Omaha area can offer and their parents know from birth they are likely to send their kids to Skutt after private K-8, because they know they can likely beat the Nebraska cities that have class B schools.
It’s not rocket science, but let’s do some math anyway. Skutt’s football classification enrollment number is 291. I believe that is boys only enrollment for grades 9-11 (3 grades). The number they need to get to in order to be in class A is 425. So how much would their total enrollment (4 grades) of boys and girls need to increase to reach class A?Umm, they limit their enrollment, that’s how. It’s not difficult...don’t let some turds in, especially if they aren’t athletes...this ain’t rocket science.
I remember one year when Skutt won the all sports title. The article was all about the AD and the superior coaching! Uh yeah. Right! Huge advantages Skutt has in Class B. They may have double the number of students as teams they play against and those public schools have lots of kids who fit demographics that make it unlikely that they will even play sports let alone excel.Don't know much about there Basketball team but there Volleyball team just won state. the public schools recruit too so that isnt really much of an advantage.
I do think there are a lot more kids finding the right school athletically than there was say 20 years ago when I was in high school. In hindsight, I could have transferred and played a little bit of baseball and basketball at a class B school. It makes sense for the kids (and the parents) to make the decision to xfer to where you can play, given the time and money that are spent on youth athletics.
