1. Still got blown out by a lesser team like last year, where is the coaching???? I don't see any development so far
2. Saw no buy-in, a bunch of individuals doing what they wanted. Mus be a culture issue
3. Coaches looked lost and unable to make halftime adjustments
4. Are we sure this staff is competent enough for a major turnaround?
5. How much are we paying this staff to lose to a clearly subpar team at home?
6. S&C: they looked obviously gassed by halftime, are we doing enough conditioning?
7. I'm not sure this scheme is right for Nebraska, could it be a little too fast paced for us? Maybe we should switch it up to the LeBron/Kobe/MJ mentality....killer instinct but still spread the ball around. I'm all for continuity in the coaching staff to HOPEFULLY be able to develop the culture of what we expect out of them but that was embarrassing
8. How will this loss affect recruiting? Will we get another commit for the rest of the year?

I know this will take time to build but man is it frustrating to continuously get hyped for these games only to be disappointed in the end. Gotta keep the faith though I guess

Did I do that right? lol

Given that it is the first official contest for a brand new head coach with a new coaching staff and an overhauled roster filled with many new players....

it is exceedingly foolish to form any hard conclusions, preliminary conclusions, or any long-term or short term-expectations regarding this coaching staff and/or team other than there will be growing pains.

If the team is still losing games to Riverside types halfway through next season, let the gloves come off.

I think you hit most of the high points here, however I did miss the part of the whole coaching staff is in over their heads, and who are our possible replacement options if/ when we clean house...

I heard through a very reliable source that for some reason is connected to both Duke and Nebraska, that Coach K is looking for a tough rebuild to end his career.....don't shoot the messenger.

We got a beat down and I came away thinking that this team will be pretty good. They were able to get a lot of good looks, but missed a ton of gimmes.

In candor, I didn't watch enough of the game, but losing a game this bad to a team of this caliber is not just missing gimmes. This was a defensive collapse. P5 conference teams suffocate teams like this on the defensive end. That's where athleticism pays off the most. This team gave up so many open 3 point looks, it was as if the opponent was in warm-ups.

The first thing I fix if I'm Hoiberg is the lack of defensive intensity and contesting shots. That alone would have made this game a toss-up, even if shots aren't falling on our end.

Mayor will have you a win in the NCAA tournament before Frost takes you to a bowl game (even the Motor City bowl)...

oh okay I guess he should stop recruiting then.
I apologize for implying anything like that. I didn't mean to. Yes, he still needs to recruit. If KU or Creighton have any out-of-work bagmen they could refer to us, that would be even better.

This is what you get with Doc's defensive philosophy. They made a big deal in the off season talking about how Doc didn't mind giving up 3s. He just didn't want any points in the paint. When the opposition has a 7 footer with reasonably good offensive talent, you have to double down on him when he posts up and that leaves somebody open. Then when a team shoots as well from 3 as UCRS did, you've got a problem. Really it's not like they scored that much. It's that we couldn't make a shot to save our life the second half. Look for more game like this against lower tier teams this year. It's going to happen. We don't have enough size and we're streaky at best from outside.

This whole thread is a troll. Well done OP! We're so intent in our negativity around here we didn't even see you winking at us.
You beat me to it. I was legit about to respond to this saying that this whole thread is a joke and I was hoping to get some dumb arguments out of it. Didn't go as planned.

This thread is a complete joke by the way. I watched 4 minutes of the second half last night, forgot it was even on.
