What's the problem then? At least I'm making a constructive argument and suggesting we can make improvements and get better as a team with this current group of players. Or do you really think it's better if we say the current group of players suck and have no talent and the only way to get better is to get a new group of players. Do you really think that's being constructive?

Call them what they are, and if they suck, get rid of them.

I saw a couple minutes of practice from the part they let the media watch, so now I know everything that happens at practice.
There's a lot more to coaching than just schemes. But as far as scheme goes, it did help when we had 4 lineman vs 3 against Minnesota. The playcalling hasn't been great on the offensive side. Too many swing passes and not enough over the middle. On 3rd and long it's like we don't even try to go for the first down. So yes schemes have been a weakness too.
They look the exact same on Saturdays as they do in those practice clips. It doesn't seem to me like they're doing any more intense stuff when the media isn't watching.
And there is more to coaching than "fundamentals".

More zone
More quick hitters under center
Mills as FB with either 4 WR or 2 TE
Simplify (to help up the tempo)
Many fewer screens and swing passes
They can install 4-6 more (I formation or single back) plays /week and 10-12 during bowl practices.
Then they'll be in much better shape come spring ball. If we can get to a bowl game.

Based on the way they play, I’d imagine their blitz pick up period is more of a walkthrough than a live drill. Can’t pick up twist and/or blitz to save their life. Poor level relationships on slides. When you are the last man in the slide, you have first out... if you are off level you can’t bump. Jurgens jump sets a lot, probably because he doesn’t want to get bull rushed. That makes it hard to stay on level when your guards are kicking and getting depth.
Not sure who calls the protections, but id guess it’s the qb. There have been multiple times protection should have been slid but wasn’t.
Last point of me bitching... passing against a 5 man box should be taken as an insult to any offensive line.
Another thing that irritates the shut out of me is the look offense. A mart should be smart enough to read the coverage look on the field and adjust — not have to get set, look over to the sideline and wait for some genius playcall to be relayed down from the booth.

About your last point. That is pretty standard for most coaches who run these play calling systems.
Getting mad at looking to the sideline is old man yells at cloud basically. You can dislike it, but it's the way of the world.

Honestly, if this is the case, we can only wait a few years to expect anything positive, cheer and have wishful thoughts in the meantime.
I'd like to be surprised that folks are not understanding what they were getting when they hired Frost. A return to 1995 this was not. The media said it, most of the board said it, and a goodly chunk of the staff has said it including the head man himself. And to put an exclamation point on it his first official action was to declare the fullback dead.
We're now halfway through year two and folks are surprised we aren't running a ball control I formation offense with the QB calling everything from the line rather than from the sidelines?
Coaches can be flexible to a point. Scott may or may not fire peeps or change his offense up a little. But I'd be very surprised if he throws away the only offensive system he's helped coach and develop to have the I formation ready by spring ball. No coach does that and Scott certainly isn't going to want to give the effect of hitting a panic button right now or he may as well flush his first major contract down the drain now.

Right now he is deciding wrong. Meanwhile, I likely will not be going to the Maryland game because I am extremely unexcited about Nebraska football.

You know someone mentioned Scott is headstrong and he certainly is, but the one guy who sorta makes him melt into a kid again is Tom.
I'm fairly certain Tom has had at least a few conversations with Scott in the last couple years, and I feel like if he felt that Scott needed to essentially install his offense he would have told him so. And there's a higher than average chance that Scott would have taken such advice and we'd sort of see the slow morphing of the offense.
I have to imagine though, that Tom hasn't said that, even in these dark times, probably offering some tips here and there, but overall telling Scott about big picture finding your own way things, rather than copy-paste the old program.
