Well our fan base were complete troglodytes, trolls, and retrads...Cally had our best recruiting classes in a long time, brought in some incredible talent...put our spring game on the NFL network, had proprietary software designed to help our players learn the offense. He was an incredibly hard worker, and was respectful to such an idiotic fan base. Remember we were coming off of forcing out a guy who won nearly 80% of his games, and we still thought we deserved a dynasty. Cally was also saddled with a d-bag AD, or linked you might say. Cally really appreciated the commitment of our fans, especially after the OU game at Arrowhead. He had two 8 win seasons, and then the #3 class in the nation and a #14 ranking before the wheels came off...He obviously missed on his DC but wasn't given a chance to replace him after year 4. The firing of the AD before the end of the season was also a garbage way to handle business, as if the AD was causing the team to lose games. Bringing in T.O was also a very disrespectful move, put a ton of pressure on the team. And obviously T.O didn't leave athletics in a better place. I do not think Cally was so bad after surviving Bo and Riley.

Did you watch the games in 2007? The team completely gave up on the coach. We almost lost to Ball State, got killed by Mizzou, Kansas, Oklahoma State, ect. Callahan had a chance to save his job once TO was hired but had an epic collapse against Texas and gave up 65 points to a 6-6 Colorado team when a win would have got us bowl eligible. Don't blame Cosgrove... he fielded half decent defenses in 2005 and 2006. The team gave up.

Cosgrove was not the only problem with Callahan during his time at Nebraska. His offenses folded in big games. He went with Sam Keller. Couldn't motivate the team. Wasn't into Nebraska at all. Would have been gone the moment he had enough success to get another opportunity in the NFL.

He was a smart dude with good offensive concepts, but was a poor in game tactician. Did not play to his team's strengths at all. 2004 was a train wreck of square peg round hole season. Team fell apart when the solid class of 2006 seniors graduated. Great recruiter, but how much of that was John Blake's shenanigans??

I do hope he does well for the redskins.

Yep...his Offense was a charade elevated by running it up on nobodies and turtling against good teams. How many 3 yard outs did we throw in the 41-6 *** pounding by Mizzouri? Complete embarrassment. Anyone that paid attention would know if he has a Fullback in at the goal line he's throwing to him in the flat and his center screen you could see coming.

Callahan took over a program that was already burning to the ground and then went on to stock it with quite a bit of talent that 408 got to ride the coattails on.
What? No. Callahan took everything Nebraska and wiped his *** on it. He brought in talent. True. And purposely turned his back on every single aspect of our identity and tradition.

Yeah that's the game that comes to mind first. Don't forget the USC game in 2006 where he ran toss after toss after toss to get the clock rolling so the score wouldn't get out of hand... even when it was anybody's game.

Don't forget beating Pitt 7-6.. yeesh

Don't forget that Missouri, Kansas, USC were top 5 teams. I think we played SEVEN top 25 teams...and 9 teams in the top 40 for total offense. It was a wrecking ball of a schedule. I remember Bo, Riley, and even Frost getting boat raced multiple times by worse offenses than we saw against Missouri, Kansas, Usc. A team that has quit doesn't score 73 against a Kansas state or even 51 against Colorado...nor do they come 1 possession away from beating Texas at Texas. That team fought hard until the end but had a huge gap between their mediocre senior defenders and talented freshman and sophomores who would be great two years later. We are kind of experiencing the same thing now on offense. The fans are stupid and ignorant, and ignored the fact that we played one of the toughest schedules in a long time that season. Our "off" weeks were okie state, texas...and even our power-puff was Ball State that won 11 games and Nevada with Colin K at Qb...can you imagine this team playing THREE top 5 teams...we would get our faces ripped off...this current Frost team might only win 6 games against a vastly inferior schedule...I don't think we should talk about quitting.

Not to mention running a terrible scheme on d. Leaving 3 lbs on the field against 0 and 10 personnel

can you tell me his dline? You forget how thin we were..lost the dline coach to start the year and had to scramble to get one that was fired from Alabama. A bad dline is a recipe for disaster and we were stuck with a momentary awful one. It was still bad in 2008 but had Suh...and was dominant in 2009 and 2010 with Callys recruits final matured. Fans are stupid...the collective fan base is even dumber. After the embarassment of 25 million for Bo and his gang, and then even worse with Riley people should revise how they feel about Cally. He was a hard worker, innovative, and showed respect for the huskers, Riley and Bo couldn't say the same......and hated the sooners.

The typical mindless response..... Bo won 9 or 10 games every one of his 7 years as our HC. So that was a program that was burned to the ground?

If so, what would you call a program that has two losing seasons in four years? Arguably the worst one being the fourth & last year?

That would be you.... mindless drone that laps up anything the great Oz put in place and anything else was despised.

I will say 408 is doing a great job of running YSU into the ground though...

At what point was the Big 10 weaker than the Big 12 between 04 and 08
KU and Mizzou both had arguably their best teams ever in that time span. Texas and OU were both competing for national titles and Leach and TTU were humming. When BP came in KU and TTU cratered after Mangino and Leach were pushed out. Mack Brown was fizzling with Texas (BP still couldnt beat them) and Mizzou couldnt sustain their success.

Yeah riiiiiight.......Bo never even came close to having a losing season for his 7 years as our HC while Clownahan racked up two losing seasons in his four years as our HC.

But yeah, I know, I know.......go ahead with the excuses, excuses, excuses.
Actually he was close on a couple years.
2012 if we didn't get some lucky bounces we go 6-6
2013 easily could have gone 5-7

Was that supposed to be an answer?

41-6 worse than 48-7? Can't believe fans can come on here and bash Cally after watching us lick the *** of OU, OSU, Wisky... we have 10 blowout losses since joining the big 10...it just got worse after Cally. To be honest...at least under Cally the recruiting season was fun...Bo's and Riley's teams were unwatchable and recruiting was a bore...I like Frosty but his teams are nearly as unwatchable and recruiting is more similar to Bo at this point than to Cally, although that is still up in the air. Cally was on the way to two top 5 classes in his first 4 years....and before you say he still lost...he didn't even get to put his own players on the field...He had a half dozen top recruits that were top draft picks from just a few classes...

How much of Callahan's recruiting prowess do you think was due to John Blake's shenanigans?

It feels very shenanigan like to give 25 million to Bo Pelini for a whale trophy..."rule breaking" in the NCAA is very grey...I prefer a coach who actually tries to win when a program gives him millions rather than push to get fired so he can have his massive buyout. Blake wasn't a coach in 2007 either, and we had the best class going...#3.
