Despite knowing the playing status of JD Spielman and 2AM..

Penn St is also favored by 2.5 over Ioway...

First of all , Nebraska qb & JD Spielman are injured. You have a backup QB most likely. Even if you don't have backup QB, Nebraska defense has to pick their position in stopping the top 3 WR in the conference, running game, or gophers tight end who are well over 6ft 7

The gophers defense put up a shutout against Illinois. Against Purdue only gave up 17. Least not forgot gophers destroyed Purdue last year with better team, same gophers team destroyed Wisconsin. Much of the gophers dline, oline & offense returns.

Did you give this speech to Georgia St fans?

Should Nebraska kneel as the Gophers come on to the field?

I like us to cover.

I thought P St would be favored around -9.5 or so.

Maybe Iowa does have a chance to beat them. Because Vegas is begging you to take P St with that spread.

We will show up anyway for the game if that's OK with you.

Not saying you guys won't beat us. Just crazy gophers don't get any respect at all. Gophers WR's are some of the best in college with Chris A-Bell, Tyler Johnson, & R.Bateman. Really Good RB's. Good Oline & defense. You will notice gophers took off after firing our DCoordinator

Correct sharp thinking, but we haven't been a covering machine this year, which is even more reason to like Nebraska.

"Circle the wagons" type game.

It would be nice to get that extra half point & make it an even 7 point spread.

I might wait & see what that spread does here this week.

My guess is it moves down to +6 or +5.5 even.

It is probably because of the SD St, Fresno St, and GA Southern games, if I had to guess.

Gophers coaches admitted to reporters they didn't use any of the installed offensive plays during the non conference games, which is why the offense & defense struggled. As you can see Purdue was not ready at all to stop gophers. Also during Georgia southern & Fresno games, gophers were up double digits but costly dumb penalties, pick 6 by tanner Morgan & fumbles by him let other teams in the game.

Tanner Morgan did same vs. Illinois. Pick 6 & fumbles 6

I won't touch it, had NW this weekend +7.5 pretty large, at this point betting against Nebraska has probably run it's course, I think we are something like 1 win ATS this year?

I avoid traps and this "feels" like a trap.

So we got that going for us!

Could be Vedral is a much better fit at QB now, and we rally behind the Nebraska kid. That is the hope.

The Gophers haven't played anybody in the same universe as Ohio State, so taking that game out of Nebraska's season as a means to compare the teams:
  • Both teams have played five games, with Nebraska at 4-1, Minnesota at 5-0.
  • Both teams are 3-0 at home.
  • Both teams are 2-0 against other Big Ten teams.
  • Minnesota beat Illinois by 23 at home. Nebraska beat Illinois by 4 on the road.
  • Nebraska outyarded the Illini by ~380 yards. Minnesota outyarded the Illini by ~230.
  • Minnesota defeated Fresno State on the road by 3 points in overtime.
  • Nebraska lost to Colorado on the road by 3 points in overtime.
  • Minnesota is giving up 314 yards per game. Nebraska is giving up 344 yards per game.
  • Minnesota gains 409 yards per game. Nebraska gains 432 yards per game.
Looks about even to me. Given Nebraska's iffy injury situation and the fact that it's a road game in crappy weather, the line may be a point or two high, but it seems fair. It'll probably come down to turnovers, so Morgan and Vedral/Martinez need to take care of the ball. Illinois turned TOs into points against both teams.

You got 6.5 points. Not sure how much more would constitute respect against a team that beat you 53-28 last season.

Agree. I hate +6.5 spreads. I’ll probably wait & see if it gets to 7 before I jump on us.

I think I’m going to take Iowa though.

The wins over South Dakota St and Georgia Southern weren’t very impressive that has been the reason why the Gophers haven’t had much respect..

Illinois beat gophers same way. So? All I am saying is, people can't just see the first 3 games and act like the players & coaching staff of gophers cared to use any of their plays they draw up, when coaches essentially admitted as much that they didn't call any plays

I get that. But if the coaches had care to use any playcalling & the team played like their were supposed to, it wouldn't have been close

Minnesota coaches in the booth: "Hey, TJ. I know it's late in the fourth quarter and we're trailing Fresno State, but don't you think we should start calling the good plays?"
Fleck: "It's PJ. Nope. The loss will be worth it to save the good plays for Purdue and Illinois. But not Georgia Southern, even if it goes down to the wire, too. Row the boat."
Assistant coach: "OK, JP. You're the boss. Also the guys want to know: do we use a paddle or an oar? It's so confusing."

I don't know who is going to win. But you're favored to win, that = respect.
