It will probably be a close game. Nebraska no longer has easy wins. We could lose at any given time to any team.

The only games that don't worry me too much are the ones Nebraska wins, or the spring game!:D

Looking forward to the team coming out and playing up to their potential, a complete game. I fully expect that because I have FAITH in this team and staff.

If they don’t, I will officially be worried and may join the rest of the chicken littles on this board.

I have faith that they can win, but until the usual turnovers and penalties stop, along with mismanagement by the staff, you can see where a game like this is cause for concern.

It might end up that the hype-killing "back to reality" loss to Colorado was just what this team needed. No more bullcrap. Get focused. That's what I'm hoping to see Saturday.

Problem with that is, losing under Mike Rily 60-3 should do that, an 0-6 start last year should have served, or the close win versus a directional Sun Belt team.

I think there is talent here from players to coaches, that’s what is frustrating when losing to a crappy Colorado team.

That's really fair. The turnovers and penalties are killers.

That first fumble by Martinez changed the game because Nebraska was going to score again on that drive had it been clean.

In his defense, he got walloped pretty damn good. I know, no excuses. But I know I sure as hell would have fumbled that ball!

Probably shouldn't have been trying out for the diving team running right up the gut either.

Hoping Colorado doesn’t beat us twice. I think they come out flat. They typically do at home games. Which is mind numbing but also the norm. I think they win a close one. They’re due.

I didn't watch the game Saturday and finally had time last night. What a mess.

It was a collection of problems that could haunt this team all year if things don't change.

Answer me this question, and it’s just a question..
Did Nebraska improve from week 1 to week 2?
I think they did, which leads me to believe they will keep getting better every week moving forward.

Play calling and penalties need to improve. There still seems to be too many turnovers from 2AM all which people can argue is a sign of not improving.

So did they improve?

They also usually have to play these types of games at 11 am in front of ho-hum crowds. I don't think they come out flat under the lights. I also expect there to be a little bit of emotion in the crowd that isn't normally there in the morning.

I would have thunk that the turd that was laid in the opener was a reality check, but maybe not. Here’s to hoping that back-to-back shoulder-shrugging performances makes a difference, somehow, someway.

You're right, that was a big hit to cause the fumble, and it's too bad it happened, I could see a td coming again on that drive.

I am always curious when the "play calling" card gets played.

What exactly was wrong and what plays should be called differently? Of course, given the D being played.

It seems like we go through this questioning of play calling every year.

My worry is we shouldn't need a moment like that. We had that last year already. We shouldn't have to have a game like this every single year in order to get focused.

Exactly, play calling can equal the defenses play calls as well. I might be in the minority but believe the offensive play calls is what people were complaining about, me included. The overtime calls specifically when we needed to score and a handoff and an RPO were called when we were connecting on throws the first half of the game was confusing.

They were stopping our runs up the middle most of , if not all game. So that was a perplexing call to make in overtime. JMO.

So you are saying we should have thrown the ball in OT? What was the D doing? How were they lined up?

Summers made a great halftime adjustment. Went from his traditional 4-3 (4-2 Nickle) to a 3-3 and left 7 or 8 in coverage. We could have responded to it by running the ball between the tackles but obviously we could not or would not do that, and a 3 man push was often effective enuff to hurry AM. O-line needs to get better and will.

Penalties really hurt the offense in the second half. The first drive was stalled by a holding penalty (very weak call) and the next by a chop block. We were moving the ball and even running between the tackles with a little success before the penalties. We score on either of those drives and go up 24-0, game over. We can't throw against the zone or pick up the blitzes well enough right now to convert on third and long and penalties kept putting us there, we were able to avoid those in the first half.

For those who still haven't watched the replay and need a capsule description to what TruHusker is talking about (on offense), just study the video of the Martinez sack in OT - a 3 Stooges OL blocking performance. Hilariously bad. B10 DLs are going to have a field day.

If teams can drop 8 defenders in to coverage, send three linemen, and still rush our passer then we will struggle every week.

If they can also drop 8 defenders in coverage and shut down our run game then we will lose to EVERYBODY!!!

I coached JV HS that did better than that, it was a total joke.

You are correct, everyone is going to have their DL on the move all the time, we cannot handle that or at least we haven't shown the ability to do so thus far. Amazing.

There is a LOT of coaching that needs to take place with this team and some people need to apologize to Riley and his staff. Insert sarcasm symbol here.

Yes, that's true enough.....we couldn't run through squat. It was a rough damn game....
