Has 100% buy in happened?

Just curious if you think all players have bought in 100% yet? Last year obviously there was a ton of issues with that, as we all suspected there would be. I think the kids who don't want to work hard or expect things given to them, have left. I don't see a work ethic as a huge problem.
We have heard Frost makes comments like we are much better than last year, but still have a ways to go. Could that be regarding buying/ mental side of things? Is it strictly from a S&C aspect?
Do you think 100% buy in has happened for all the players or the vast majority at least? Or do you still think there are some Riley guys that still don't get it yet? If so, I suspect they will be gone shortly. I believe we are getting very close to 100% buy in. Which is what we need to see this thing really take off.

I fear not as many of the young boys are still hitting the marijuana hard. Until that is eradicated from our team we will continue to see subpar results.
That crossed my mind as well. Does this type of selfish behavior suggest these guy just don't get it? Im not sure. Im not sure in today's world especially with 17-22 year old kids, if we will ever get 100% team over self mentality from everyone. Im sure in the 70s & 90s there were guys doing stupid stuff as well.

If only they would stop playing the vidya games, they would buy-in and win it all. Damn you Fortnite.

Having been part of organizations and teams, I am going out on a limb and say you will never have 100% buy-in. There are many who think they have.

I would be curious who were those who didn't buy-in last year? Some left for other reasons, so just leaving wouldn't tell me they were the only ones not buying in the Frost system. Could be wrong

This just reminds me of how important this year is for building a positive trajectory to push us forward the right way.
We gotta start winning games. We’re desperate for a good season.

You know Stan got busted in Florida for weed and I figured he wouldn’t be relevant, but his attitude changed and were really going to miss him this year

Totally agree...there is no such thing as 100% buy-in...

It is great coach speak, it really is...but shoot, look at us and our careers that help us live and help us provide for our families...none of us are 100% all-in all the time at our jobs. We show up late, leave early, kill time at work when we can...

I think what coaches are looking for is not having jackasses on the team.

I wouldn't call it 100% buy-in when players are caught smoking marijuana and Frost is saying that is forbidden. You'll never get 100% buy-in though with such a large group any where.

Fact is that a much higher percent of the 18yr old population today smokes weed. Much less drinking alcohol now. It’s pretty much a given thing in the city I live that young people smoke weed (very diverse in race). No comment on buyin but weed is a different deal now.

I don't know what the specific points of buy in consists of.

S&C is near the top

Play fast is near the top

Blink fast is up there

Nutrition is up there

Attending classes is high

Personal behavior is in their somewhere

It's the age. I wouldn't call it selfish unless it's a distraction. I'm sure many during our dynasty age partied like it was 1999.

No matter what... it is disappointing. Especially since he isn't the first to make this bad decision.

buy-in doesn't mean there won't be lapses
Thank you. You're dealing with 150 18-22 year old kids. No program anywhere is squeaky clean. These kids aren't robots who do nothing but school and football. They have a social life and party like most college kids. Glass houses people. I'm sure everyone on here has made bad decisions in life. Live and learn.

I just find it interesting that cigarette are bad for you but weed isn’t, Makes no sense to me. Just can’t figure out why anyone would want to put that stuff in their lungs especially when none of it’s filtered. Any of you older people remember in school smoking Sam? How it showed what smoking did to your lungs. Look it makes me no different if it’s legal, and tobacco tax is a tax I don’t have to pay.

You're never going to have 100% buy-in from the players. I'd settle for 50%, which is probably too high.

On a roster of 140 players, some of whom will never see the field ever, you're not going to have every guy working like a maniac every day. Some are just there for the free education. Some just want to have fun playing ball, some just want to get laid, and some are doing it because their parents told them to do it. Everybody is motivated differently, and no coach is going to come across differently enough to inspire everybody.

If you think everybody on the 1995 or 1997 team was 100% committed, I have millions of dollars at a bank in Africa that is yours if you just mail me some cash for an administrative fee. I can look at the roster and see tons of highly-regarded guys who never played on those teams, because they didn't put in the effort necessary.

Remember the old anti-smoking commercial with "Johnny Smoke"? Ha!

Go to any state which has legalized marijuana and visit any pot shop. You will quickly discover that nowadays cannabis can be consumed in a variety of ways which doesn't involve inhaling smoke.

I don't take the pot in any form...but I would imagine people do it for the same reason they do anything...they like how it makes them feel.
