I understand there pretty expensive, if that’s all you take is baths probably a good idea, they do make a sit down shower stall that is considerably less expensive

How many gallons to fill it up? You need an on-demand hot water supply because with your 40 or 50 gallon hot water heater it gets about 1/2 full and then your running cold water into it. They never mention this when they're selling it to you.

I installed one for my uncle. It had the jets and a heater, which doesn't really heat the water, but keeps it from cooling down as fast as normal.

When I really screwed up my back I had a walk in shower. Put in a bath chair and a grab bar. Kinda got spoiled being able to shower then sit down to shave.

I hear the experience is so refreshing that users can simply hurdle the top of the tub when done bathing. Problem solved.

...and sitting there till it's full! You more than likely sit there longer waiting for it to fill and empty than you actually sit there bathing.

Local station did a story about one of these companies a while back...couple paid a handsome price for a walk in, few things broke in the warranty period, bath tub company had since gone out of biz and they couldn't get parts for it. VERY expensive remodel that now had to be redone completely because their million dollar walk in was now a worthless piece of fiberglass.

Install a slide. Fill it to the top, float to the slide and exit gracefully.

At our 60th wedding family celebration daughter and granddaughter took wife shopping. She fell and broke her other hip.
Now in 6 wks to 2 mos skilled nursing.
She thinks it would be just the thing for her limited mobility.

I'm already dissuaded after a few posts on hnere.

just need to get it out sometimes.

Unless you use a contraption to raise a person in and out of the tub, I wouldn't like waiting for the tub to fill and empty. For me, a sit down shower of some type would be great. But some people really like baths.

I asked a realtor about what it does to property value. My dad wanted one for my mom. I told him a walk-in shower with a built in seat is nicer. The realtor said a walk in tub hurts value because most people will buy the property will be younger. Walk-in tub means they have to do a bathroom remodel.
