I think he is still underrated.
Obviously him getting another star doesn't magically make him better, but it makes our class look better, and us fans feel good, so awesome!
If only we had a Quarterback coach that was skilled at working on those kind of things.
I think Frost/Verduzco recruiting him may have caused the Rivals evaluation guys to take another look. Frost/Verduzco get (and should get) a lot of respect in terms of them being able to evaluate QBs. JMO.

And of course your correct. But when Husker fans or any other fans take a look at our commitments...seeing 4 star players is going to gain a little more respect compared to seeing 3 stars. Like you said, it’s a beauty pageant...in a sense...just looks better. But when you land players above the top 50 like Betts and Corcoran, you know you have special talents then. Guys in the top 50 TEND to be a notch above the rest and then you have the guys in the top 10...they are very special.

Edited...plus side here is, McCaffery could be great WR too. There’s a chance if Smothers is better, maybe they could switch Luke to WR. He’d never miss a beat as a WR as well. Dudes definitely got that McCaffery blood in him.

Frost and Coach V carry a lot of weight and evaluation cred when it comes to quarterbacks.
Just a couple weeks ago Frost and Coach V offered a 2021 quarterback and it was his first D1 offer. Within 24 hours 3 other power 5 schools offered the same kid. Sorry I can't remember his name. People know that these two coaches have the knowledge regarding what makes a good quarterback in their system.

Frost and Mario will work the land the most legit QB they can in each class, let them compete and let the chips fall where they may.
Glad he got that important 4th star. I was worried he wasn’t going to be very good otherwise. BTW any chance Bubba could still be a QB for us?
A 4th star doesn't make him magically better. It does mean that upon further evaluation, people who are employed solely to evaluate high school football recruits felt his talent warranted a higher ranking. That's never a bad thing.

Agreed there. And I was off an Bama, that’s why I edited. But they got a big time QB last year and the year before. They are loaded. Smothers probably thinks this offense is his after Martinez. But I’m sure McCaffery is thinking same thing. Those two will have a monster battle in a few years.
Yup, but I think this kid has a better wing than McCaffery, who could play multiple positions in the end.
And don't think the likes of Clemson, Florida, FSU, etc won't be throwing themselves at this kid at the end of the cycle either, he's that good.
Clemson has 5 star guy this class already. And Trevor Lawrence the year before. Clemson won’t be after him. And I believe Florida and FSU have their QBs as well.

Iowa’s 2020 QB got his fourth star as well. It in no way makes them better prospects but it gives fans a warm fuzzy feeling inside.
It definitely does. I noticed the 4 star QB you guys locked in on. It’s awesome our West teams are getting in on the talents too...FINALLY. Wisconsin last years recruiting cycle along with the Huskers and Iowa this year along with the Huskers again. West is loading up. The east time is coming....believe that.
