Vizio TV settlement

We we’re watching TV a while back and a message popped up on our TV about a settlement had been agreed to by Vizio. I didn’t really know what it was all about and thought it was weird that it popped up on my TV. Well, I got a couple emails recently that the settlement date is almost up to qualify. I thought it was spam, but did a little research and it looks like Vizio got busted for spying on our viewing info and a class action lawsuit was brought against Vizio because of it. Does anyone know about this? Has anyone done the settlement?

I haven't done it, though I think I would qualify. Search for "vizio class action" on Google, top result seems to have all the info you would need. Says potential settlement amount is estimated to be $13-$31.

I did the redbull class action, what 6 years ago now, someone sued saying they didn't get wings. I thought it was a joke, filled out all the paper work and sent it in. I was given the option of like 4 bucks or a 4 pack of redbull, obviously the redbull was worth more so I went that route.

18 months passed and I randomly received a package in the mail, was a 4 pack of redbull. I completely forgot all about it. It was a nice surprise. Long story short, I wouldn't expect the money for a long time.

The bad things about class action lawsuits is you most of the time get a piddly sum that isnt worth your time. But I remember something about Vizio Tv's collecting data on you or something of the sort. I had a vizio tv for a bit, but sold it off.

Years ago I had bought an E machines computer. Never had a lick or problems with it, but there was some class action suit for something.

I got a free laptop in the mail. I mean it wasn't anything special, but gave it to one of the kids and they were thrilled

I recently received a settlement check from Wells Fargo for a whopping $0.24. I vaguely remember getting something in the mail 5 or 6 years ago about it. Needless to say I won’t be retiring early.

About 12 years ago, I did the class action against Netflix for throttling down their movies-by-mail customers. The settlement was one free month of Netflix, which required your credit card to start. They had offered one month trial membership from the start, so the settlement was absolutely nothing.

In a similar situation, my wife had a mail-in rebate for a Sony laptop like 15 years ago. They never mailed it. She called the service number, wrote letters, etc. but never saw it. Fast-forward to about two years ago. We checked the unclaimed property site on the state government page, and here was the rebate. I don't know what took so long, but it was a hundred bucks. She had a jihad against Sony all that time because of the unpaid rebate.

I had read that too and just wondered if it was legit. It seems like it is with all of the stuff I’ve been able to read. I have an email with a confirmation number that I need to enter if I do it. I’ve had 3 Vizio TV’s in that time. I don’t even think you need to show any type of receipt or anything.

One person makes out with class actions...I will let you guess who that is...

On a sort of related note...when I was a kid I worked at a golf course and started to realize that if I sent in clubs from the lost and found to the manufacturer that they would send me brand new ones...It was awesome! I would crack the head off the old club...send it in to the Wilson, Titlelest, King Cobra...you name it...these clubs would be 20 years old...they would send me a brand new updated version.

This is just like that lawyer portrayed by an actor that comes on my TV promising money for a mesothelioma affliction.

No it’s not. A single person’s tort action is nothing, at all, like a class action suit over a non-life-threatening consumer product’s defect.
What if I used cancer causing talcum powder on my rectum and farted out particles in Poli-Sci Class? Do my mates have a case, mel?
