hearsay is he could miss up to 6 months for a shoulder

That’s awful news for an already thin position. They may have to consider moving an OLB inside if they don’t think the walkons (Cassidy etc) are ready. The summer arrivals Hannah and Snodgrass could help a bit but will be asking a lot of true freshmen who weren’t here for spring ball.

Here’s a list of “potential” guys to fill in: Chris Cassidy, Garrett Nelson, Tyrin Ferguson, Joey Johnson, Simon Otte, JoJo Domann, Breon Dixon, Damian Jackson, Jordan Paup, Garrett Snodgrass, Jackson Hannah....
a lot of those guys are currently at OLB.
I always thought D. Jackson could be a great “situation” ILB. Short yardage etc.

The Sam LB really isn’t a true LB in this defense. They’ll essentially have 3 real LBs + a hybrid(DE/LB) or 3 real LBs + a DB type. If you don’t have legit LBs that can essentially all do everything, than a 4-3 is seriously the worst defense you can run.

We blew up all the speed rushers, like Stille, Thomas...

Ban me, I'll say it.

That being said, our DL is a lot "bigger" this year. Bunch of Hogs.

Ben Affleck aka Chin will be responsible for the "push" this season.

And Heinrich will be an All-American. I think Alberts had an early injury. Wistrom imagined a Blackshirt. Talent is looking up.

I agree. I see Nelson as an inside backer on run downs. He would be effective blitzing up the middle and you could move him out to rush off the edge on passing downs. The thing I see him struggling with is being matched up out on the flat with a back out of the backfield.

Wasn't expecting Henrich to do a lot this year as a true freshman coming off knee injury.

Telling you guys if Jackson Hannah has it between the ears like I think he does, he's going to be the real deal. We'll see how he makes the jump to HS but he really reminds me of his coach Mr. Ruud.

Raw athleticism doesn't fly off the screen at you, but there he is just showing up and making plays all the time. His technique is really good.

Jackson and Nelson ARE ILB size.

Yep. I agree with you here. I feel the same way about Domann. Kid just knows where to be to make a play. Some players have it, and some don't.

Younger brother was that way. Some kids have a nose for the football.
