By most accounts Hoiberg is going to be the next coach of Nebraska Basketball. I believe gives us the best shot, maybe we have ever had, to actually have a consistently good program. So assuming he is hired and he is able to turn the program around.
The football program seems to also be maintaining good forward momentum. So what do you think happens first? The basketball program makes a sweet 16 or the football team makes the playoffs

I would be estatic if the Football team Wins the B1G and plays in the Rose Bowl without being in the playoffs and the Basketball team wins it’s first NCAA basketball game..

I have a hunch those two happen first before the other two you’re mentioning...

Starting from scratch next year with BBall. I see football further along, especially with Adrian. In other words, I think playoffs in next 3 years is a possibility because of Adrian.
Without Adrian, not sure who I would pick.

Sweet 16...you basically need EVERYTHING to go right to make the final four (which is what the football playoffs are)
- 1 or less losses
- Probably have to win your last game (conference championship) vs an elite team

Basketball all you have to do is get into the dance..then win two games.

More likely you have to win your conference Championship game to get in the playoffs in football..

You can finish in the top half of your conference and make it in the basketball tournament and win both games the first weekend..

Easier for any school to win two games in the tournament than getting in the playoffs unless you’re Alabama..

I am thinking along these lines as well. I debated about making it the elite 8, but figured having never won 1 ncaa tourney winning 2 would be tougher and equal to a well established neb football team making the playoff.
But as many of stated the turnaround in basketball can be much quicker because it only takes a top player or 2 where football takes many more top play makers.
In reality I think the football team is 3-4 years away from having a shot to compete with the top in the country. Where as the basketball team could pull in a couple top freshmen or transfers and make a run in 2.
