Agree no reason for fans to be stupid. Also no reason for pro athletes to be stupid. If someone is bothering them, tell security. They are there to handle this type of issue. Westbrook should know better.
As a HS administrator, I can recall many times when I had to separate fans from coaches. Telling a community member they are no longer allowed to attend games is something they forgot to teach me in college classes. People will be people, flawed, emotional, and selfish.
Fan banned for life, Westbrook fined 25k.

Yeah, that will go well for him...especially when Westbrook's lawyer shows the tweet that Keisel made right before the game.
Like mentioned above. Westbrook should have notified security and had the fan removed from the game. Making threats to players or fans is uncalled for. Now I have to hear about this pissing contest for the rest of the week on my podcasts and radio shows...
Westbrook is far from one of the good guys in the nba. He’s quick tempered and has no self control. Banning the fan was the right move. Westbrook getting into a verbal exchange and saying he’s going to “f up” the guys wife was definitely not the right move. Check out Westbrook’s reaction to when the 10 year old nuggets fan touched him during a game...the guy is a prima dona.

It must be interesting being an NBA player where the fans sit so close and you're constantly subjected to this abuse. You can say what you want about being professional, letting security handle it, or they get paid enough to deal with it.... but any alpha male would want to F someone up eventually. I know I would.

I'm not sure what the reference would be to make that particular comment racist, but I don't think Westbrook was wrong considering this guy's Twitter history was riddled with racist posts.
Well I doubt Westbrook knew about those posts before he went off on him. Westbrook has to be bigger than that IMO. I find it a little odd so many people are OK with his behavior.
I don't think anyone here is okay with it. I understand it, it's got to be hard to take verbal abuse and Utah Jazz fans have a real history of that kind of behavior. The NBA did fine him $25,000. They both got what they deserve.
Cause fans have been overstepping their boundaries with him.....I hope one of them gets knocked out.

What makes home advantage possible is raucous fans. Fans making lots of noise, interrupting the concentration of the visiting team, putting pressure on them to fail. That's part of the game, and players need to have thick skins to ignore it.
There is a point where a fan's focus on an individual player crosses the line. Using racist, sexist, offensive language. Going into personal details about the player's family, etc. Too much is too much, and other fans around them probably don't appreciate it either. Teams don't want to escort their own fans to the exit, but there must be some standard for fan behavior.
I did some work for the local parks department, and youth sports parents' behavior had gotten so bad they started requiring they attend an information session and sign a pledge to knock some of it down. I couldn't believe some of the stories I heard. Parents confronting not only refs, but opposing players, in the parking lot. All sorts of bad language, threats, and violence. People really need to get a life, sometimes.

I'm not okay with what Westbrook did, but only because escalating the situation puts innocent bystanders at risk. If you remember that brawl involving Ron Artest, it was ugly and could have gotten a lot worse.

He didn’t see who pushed him until he turned around in the case with that kid. And if you can’t keep your kid from reaching out and pushing opposing players, don’t sit court side. That’s not on him, he had no idea who it was or what their intent was. The parents need to know better and so does the kid.
