H. Beck still a ranting loon...

Why am I just standing here?”
Despite a lackluster college career at the highest level, Beck’s natural arm strength provided some hope for professional aspirations. According to Beck, his former coach Bill Callahan reportedly told teams he was uncontrollable and uncoachable.

“Tom O’Brien told someone that I had the best arm he’d ever seen in his life but that I won’t listen to anybody,” Beck said.

As it had been throughout his career, Beck’s undeniable physical talents were marred by his mental approach and lack of discipline.

I know people rag on the Callahan years but Taylor and Cory Ross were fun to watch and had a couple decent seasons before the wheels fell off. If we only had a D coordinator back then. Lol. Oh well, we have Frost now and all is right in the universe.

That's about how I feel. Zac Taylor was a warrior and pork chop was fun watching him juke.

A good comparison to share with children. You can work hard, keep a good attitude and produce on the field and eventually become a head nfl coach or you can be lazy, uncoachable and love eating around the clock and end up as a fat @ss, unemployable and probably lonely.

Beck was Callahan’s chosen qb but when the staff got word he had a few loose screws, they started to recruit Zach as an insurance.

Not only that, he once scored 4 touchdowns in the championship game for Polk high school. Yep. Those were the days.

1. People need to stop pretending like Taylor was some walk-on from a town of 400 people. He had D1 scholarships out of high school. Give him credit. Then he married a coaches daughter so there were tons of nice connections. I am sure he is a hard worker and great guy but sometimes we really like to get carried away.

2. Had Beck finished at NU...he would be hosting a radio show right now in the state.

Watching that Beck video showed Toniu Fonoti blocking for him. I could care less about Uncle Rico Beck anymore. That guy is in his own world. I long for the days of having dudes on the O-line like Fonoti again. That dude was an absolute bulldozer at guard. If he could have backed away from the dinner table a little more, he probably could have had a long NFL career. He was probably my favorite Husker lineman ever. One particular play that I will never forget was the K-State game, which I think was the week before Colorado kicked our ***. There was a run play up the middle to the left where Fonoti came out of his stance and absolutely destroyed the tackle in front of him, knocking him on his *** and effectively out of the play completely. He then ran to the second level and totally eclipsed the poor linebacker coming over to make the tackle. He buried the guy into the ground with his entire 320 pounds crashing down on top of him. After the runner flew by them and the play was over, he gets up and yanks the linebacker up by his arm and gives him a playful swat to the helmet as to show him no hard feelings. That is the kind of guy we need again.

resdog,

Hate to break it to you but Toniu Fonoti never played with Beck. Many of those pics in that video were not of Beck.

He (Toniu Fonoti) was my favorite Husker OL as well. He played as a true freshman in 1999. (Dang the 99 Team was good) He hadn't completely learned the blocking assignments but he was so good that they just had Dominic Raiola tell him who he was to block and Toniu would many time put that guy on his butt.

That was Crouch in that video. Beck was #3 crouching. Probably for an M@M on the ground. Eek

He had a good arm. You could argue he had a great arm. He was selfish, lazy and didn’t have it between the ears or the heart to do it.

Now he is stuck with “what if’s”.

A waist more than 50% of your height is a heart attack risk. He is way over that. I hope he gets it together.
