Any truth to this? I don't know a ton about him only that he was fired by Bama after only 1 year. Went over to the Bama board and the their thoughts was that he and Saban clashed and that he doesn't like to recruit was the main reasons he was fired.

Coached with Pinkel for 15 years at Missouri and before then at Toledo for nine years. He spent 2016-17 with Mark Richt and left for Alabama. He was at Alabama for just one year/ He was loyal to Pinkel, but not to Richt, and Saban's the only head coach who didn't keep him around.

Could be real or could be an excuse. But not wanting to recruit would be a non starter for me. How hard could it be to recruit at Alabam?. The recent gold standard of college football where players are allowed not begged to sign, and in the hot bed of talent. If you can't recruit in the sec/bama, how are you going to recruit at Nebraska?

Again, not saying it's true. Responding to the op statement about vibe on the bama board.

Many Coach’s have said that Nick Saban is a hard man to work for... He has had a lot of Asst come and gone over the years at Alabama..

If the point is that he left Miami because Richt was "fired", that would not be a factual statement. Richt was "fired" after the 2018 season, so Kuligowski left for Alabama while Richt was still coaching, he left on his own from Miami to Alabama.

I think the clashing with Saban is pretty common. The guy is a prick. So if he was simply a personality clash thing. I could see him and Frost working out better. If it was a lazy recruiting thing, then yes we don't want any part of that. Bamas D line stats looked pretty decent last year. Top 30 for TFL, stopping the run, qb sacks. So I don't think he was fired based on performance.

Bama signed the #1 and #3 Defensive tackles in the country. Coach Kuligowski recruited them both.

However, this wasn't good enough for Bama fans because they were unable up sign the #1 rush end in the country. The four other 4 Star Defensive Ends were just marginal by Bama standards.

I'm betting he was fired for philosophical differences. The recruiting excuse isnt really logical. Keep in mind, he sent a ton of dudes to the NFL from Mizzou.

I actually think he would make a really nice addition to Nebraska because he has unbelievable resources in KC and St.Louis.

I'm hoping this is true because he would be a great addition (and IMO a significant upgrade) to our staff.
The more I have been seeing and the more I have been digging this morning. It does seem like he would be an upgrade. The D line has been the area of biggest problem the last 5+ years. To get a coach in here that has a proven track record of getting guys into the NFL is big plus. He did this at Missouri. I wouldn't say that is a hotbed for recruiting. Which either means he actually is a good recruiter or he is able to develop talent very well.

If he's a lazy recruiter, he won't make it to Lincoln. I'm sure Frost has Pinkel's number. And for sure, his experience and contacts on recruiting ground near NU will be huge. Assuming the dude coached Aldon Smith, a 5.7 3* out of HS who was the 7th pick in the draft. Maybe the guy knows something about coaching DLinemen.

Getting fired or leaving Alabama as an assistant coach is a red herring and means very little these days. The fact is that Saban turns over his staff regularly - so much so that he approaching almost a yearly turnover rate in the last few years. He turned over 70% of his assistants after this last season (some fired, some left for other jobs).

That said it appears that CK has an excellent track record in terms of developing players from his Missouri days. Now whether he fits the Frost staff culture or not, we don't know.

Apparently there were several candidates interviewed by Frost including CK. We should know by the end of this week, I think, who Frost picked in order for that coach to be in place for Spring practice.

He has recruited and put a very good number of players into the NFL.

He has recruited and coached (I believe the correct number is) 24 guys on either 1st or 2nd team all conference teams while at Missouri (could include Miami too, I forget what his bio said).

From what reporters & recruit writers say is that he is one of the best defensive line coaches in the country when you consider recruiting & coaching together.

I am really hoping we land him.

If true it makes me wonder why he would come to Nebraska. Lets face it coming from Alabama, Nebraska would be a step down for him. I guess coming from Alabama any place would be a step down. lol

If he’s currently unemployed, he shouldn’t be that picky.

My whole point was pretty simple. His recruiting haul in one season illustrates why the "lazy recruiter" moniker is not viable.

I'm betting he butted heads with the little big man, Saban.

Significant ties to St. Louis. That's a major factor in considering him, I imagine.

If Jason Peters retires from the Philadelphia Eagles this offseason, we could move him right into the DL coach slot. Always wondered why he switched to the OL in the NFL, but to each his own.
