Man that sucks for the kid. Isn’t he the kid that was a big time basketball player, committed somewhere to play BB, that UM convinced to play football?

I think Watt's issue was the amount of improvement he made between the first time he took it and the second. IMO that's BS. Kids who take it for the first time may not have a clue about how to take a standardized test. Then they study for it and learn how to get through the danged thing and get accused of cheating. A girl in Florida lost out on a bunch of scholarship money because the ACT or SAT flagged her scores after she had taken test prep classes between testings.

He's got some other offers. KSU etc. He'll find a spot with his athleticism and I think 247 says he's taking more visits.

I was one of em. Certainly possible to be smart enough to do what he did, but man you have to really mail it in to do that poorly.

Personal experience says it can be done fairly easily. I nearly flunked out of high school my freshman and sophomore years. Never took a book home and often missed morning classes all the way through.high school. That cost me a lot of scholarship money after I got my ACT scores back. It happens. I think my freshman teachers gave me passing grades just so they wouldn't have to deal with me again the next year.

Of course it happens but it is rare

and yes, we do pass kids just to get rid of them :)

What if he is took a bunch of AP or Pre AP classes throughout HS? The core GPA used by the NCAA is non-weighted, so a kid could conceivably have that GPA and test scores. JMHO

I think we are glossing over the important facts of this situation. If Harbaugh wanted him in this class, UM would allow him admission. This is a smoke screen. Don't let anyone convince you that every recruit signed by Michigan has a 3.5 GPA and is a member of the National Honor Society.

Schools like Michigan, Wisconsin, Texas, Notre Dame, and USC do have very high admission requirements. But they are defensively waiving those requirements for elite student athletes.

Hell, even Stanford, Duke, Vanderbilt, and Northwestern lower their standards to some extent for Student athletes.

The kid should've seen the issue back on the first national signing day. UMs reasoning was bogus. Are we supposed to believe Rashan Gary, Devin Bush, and Jabril Peppers were all academic wunderkinds?

Harbaugh has dicked this kid over. And he's done it numerous times. Don't take a kids commitment if you don't think he can play for you.

Miles is going to build a strong defensive unit and both of the guys he got late are very athletic. Watching Les I'm thinking will be entertaining. Can't wait for his press conferences this fall. If he just wins a few and keeps things close in most of the other games, he's going to get kids to think about KU. Frankly I think he's better off at KU than Michigan.

I had a higher ACT than that with a pretty unimpressive GPA. All you have to do is not do the homework and the crappy GPA takes care of itself even if you ace tests and never skip class.

Not really...Almost my exact numbers. Tested well but had no interest in going to school or paying any attention when I was there. Though I think my GPA might have been a tenth higher than that.

I was about to post the same. This board is full or Bill Gates types who were bored with the everyday drudgery of high school all the while running 4.4 40s putting up 400 on the bench. Im guessing tapping every *** they wanted at the same time?

Such as? I've read a couple of stories about it and I haven't heard anything to suggest anything other than that her test scores were flagged because of an unexpected rise between testings.

Things like her right and wrong answers being in similar patterns to those around her, as well as almost no scratchwork in her test booklet, especially in parts where needed.
