Nelson is the guy who has the right mindset and physicality to be an early contributor IMO.
Give me Jackson Hannah at "hidden gem" for as much as 4* kid can be hidden. Not a lot of fanfare around him, I am convinced he's going to be a hell of an LB.
Instant impact give me Dedrick Mills. If he gets qualified and gets his playbook learned the guy is just a mean-spirited runner.

Still struggling with the massive offer list Frost and Co are putting out there for 2020?
I have linked articles on here in the past that state the offer lists are generally unreliable at best. However, they seem to carry some weight to many people on here. Another recent article I was reading talked about how many of the "offers" are made that really are not "commitable offers" or have strings attached of some kind. But the athlete self reports them as an "offer" and everyone goes bonkers over who all offered a kid.
As a side note to this - there is no correlation between offers and star ratings. Sheesh
Maybe you have forgotten, or just missed it... clayborn was complaining a few weeks back that Frost and Co have already ‘offered’ over 100 recruits already and marveled at how wrong this is.

I remember it. But it seems to keep coming up in one form or another. Too many given out or not enough when we are on a kid. After reading some stuff on this, I hardly put any trust in what is reported. Does anyone really think all of the over 100 offers are equally good but you can bet each will show up on Rivals as a Nebraska offer. Who knows, I don't.
Of course not. But the ‘offers’ shown at least show a school is interested in the prospect. Some of them announced ‘offers’ may be a lie told by the kid or a strings attached offer, but they do generally show who’s recruiting the player. And I would rather have recruits that major offers than ones that don’t.
Fritzsche is a 5.5 three star. He has a Clemson offer (we know it’s good due to the visit and it came down to us and them, but let’s disregard that for the moment). Would you rather see that or a kid like Sam LaPorta who’s a 5.5 three star in Iowa’s class that shows his next best offer than Iowa as Bowling Green or a directional Michigan school?
This is obviously not a guarantee that Fritzsche will be a player than LaPorta. But take away the names and who committed to who, which would you rather have?
Well, I guess one could make all of the "what ifs" they want. Like a kid could get an invite to a Jr. Day at Alabama and say he was offered by Bama. The point was the unreliability of offer lists since they are self reported. If one wishes to compare these lists, or schools, for one reason or another is beside the point. I assume coaches don't offer a kid just because they heard someone else did. One could also pick many that are totally legit (your example) but who is sorting out fact from fiction? That is up to the coaches to sort out.
But in the end who cares? I would venture to say that 90% of the posters on this forum understand that there will be a pecking order with the recruits. Those same posters also understand that since Nebraska can, on average, take only 25 players per year total, that when they offer 25 QBs, 25 RBs and 40OL, that not all of the offered players can accept the offer.
In many cases, the recruit lets it be known that they received an offer, either after a visit to the campus, or a visit from one of the coaches to their school.
At my school, we have had coaches from Harbaugh and Meyer to small NAIA schools, and I have been in the room when those coaches tell a kid, we want to extend an offer, but we are still in the process of evaluating and rating the "insert position here" in your class. There is no secret that some of the offers are conditional, but I would bet that the players lying about offers is less than 5% on the high end. And those players that lie aren't going to be a factor anyway, because they won't be making any official visits, the coaches won't be hanging out at their shool or at their home.
The point is that, even if the offer is self reported and conditional, it is a very good indicator of a school having interest.
I like Jackson Hannah as an instant impact guy as much as I do the hidden gem. That dude just has football instincts in spades. He always seemed to be in the right place at the right time.
So I would say he is my instant impact guy. As for the hidden gem, I'll go with Matthew Anderson.
The guy I liked the best was Jimbo Fisher. That is a down to earth dude, who just likes to talk football and wants what is best for the kids. His ego isn't as big as you would think, he takes his time when talking to the kids and wasn't a hard seller. Dino Babers also fits that description. He is a little more overtly cocky than Fisher, but nothing like some of the others like Herman, Urbs and Harbaugh.
Most of the assistants that come in are really pretty cool too. There is a guy at Ole Miss, named Jason Jones that I enjoyed meeting and talking to. I met him about 12 years ago when he was a coach at Rice, he was my next door neighbor for about a year. He then went to coach at Oklahoma St for a few years before going to Ole Miss. His biggest fault was that he played at Alabama back in mid to late 90's.
Impact
Offense
- Dedrick Mills (not a Frosh, but already played D1 and played well)
- Wandale - could stick him out there and he'd already fit in with Frost's offense next year
Defense
- Gates. position of need and he'll have a shot to play early
- Any of the LBs really. Henrich, Nelson, Hannah, I suspect 1 will get the shot to play all year
- DL Robinson, but I suspect he and all of the defensive linemen will only play 4 games and preserve their RSs
Sleeper
- Rahmir Johnson .. yeah a 4 star, but he's a sleeper to me. I think he's going to be dynamic
- Snodgrass - I think he'll end up starting somewhere for us. apparently starting at ILB where I think his size, speed and athleticism are a perfect fit. Great shuttle time, good vertical, good 40 and nice size and strength... he should get faster and quicker with Duval

I like the choices so far, but I’ll mix it up and say Darrion Daniels for instant impact and maybe Ronald Thompkins for hidden gem.
