At least how it has played out recently, the huge benefit is that your class doesn't seem to get raided by newly hired coaches in late January or by bigger programs late as much. A newly hired staff at a big programs used to be able to poach in late January, now they can't. Also, it seems like the bigger programs aren't doing late January poaching as much. It is more of a wait to see who signed and who is available game. I really like the new system. I think it benefits Nebraska. And it benefits G5 schools that used to have Bo Pelini go dumpster diving in late January.
