based on Monday’s forecast for WEDNESDAY, I scheduled an out door group at 5:30... supposed to be 50 at time of play... IF we would have showed up, we would have been greeted by freezing drizzle
THEN at midnight we had a frozen thunderstorm!! So odd sounding... never lost power, though...
No school today, though....

I firmly believe our collective consciousness has an effect on weather and/or it's being "influenced" by man with machine.

Being a meteorologist, allows you to be wrong 50% of the time without repercussions.
The weather folks have the power to sell milk & bread!

Weather people thought the warm front from the south would come to the Midwest, instead it reversed and went back down south. Earlier in the week, they were predicting 70 degrees in Tulsa today, instead they got 20’s and ice.

I think there is a racist element that is a causal factor. Snow is white, and ICE causes power outages and blackouts. Don't think any more proof is necessary.Winking

So 72 hours shows an anomaly correlation of 0.97? Basically forecasts do not get any more accurate inside of 72 hours but are VERY useful at predicting the large scale trends of troughs and ridges? Regional resolution is variable. I use http://coolwx.com/ptype/ and when the two models line up, mostly at 36 hours I stick with that forecast. Rarely do the nam and gfs correlate until 2-3 days before the event.

50% is generous. The wind chill is -22 here right now, not far off the biggest weather event of our time that just took place. Hmmm, not a peep of another polar vortex. I feel gipped.
