To be fair, Timmy had to play 18+ conference games a year. Joe and Moe had 14 when we were in the Big 8.

I may be wrong, but other than Colorado weren't most of the other Big 8 programs really good with a decent amount of tradition during that time?

K-State, Missouri and Kansas were almost always good. Oklahoma, OSU and Iowa State were occasionally good. Colorado was usually not good, but sometimes had a big-time shooter who could beat you.

There was actually a time when some Big 8 teams would play each other three times during the regular season due to a Big 8 holiday tournament in Kansas City. I think that event ended near the end of the Cipriano era.

I believe Nebraska won the Big 8 Holiday tournament in 1967..

Tom Baack and Tom Scanelberry and Bob Gradup were some of the players.. Might have misspelled some last names..

Leroy Chalk was the guy I remembered from the late 60s. Dirk had a great blog article on him titled I think "The King and His Children". Well worth googling it and reading it. My dad took me to see him play in the Coliseum.
