Not sure why Wade lined up Suh on the outside so much. He's never been a speed rusher.

they really weren't worried about a speed rusher. They wanted to collapse the pocket on Brady and get in his face. Suh has tremendous explosiveness. What was funny was Romo and his partner gushing about Donald when every time I watched Suh he was doubled and they left Donald singled. They moved Suh and Donald around to try to give the Pats different looks and it worked until the Rams got gassed late. The Rams' offense did their defense no favors to be sure. Lots of 3 and outs.

Sorry, but Suh's bull rush is his best move. Especially at this age.
Re-read my post. I didn't say he was an outside speed rusher. That wasn't what they wanted to do to Brady and the Pats. They wanted to COLLAPSE the pocket on Brady and contain the run. You don't generally do that with an outside speed rushing DE. They wanted to get in Brady's face and keep him from being able to step in to his throws.

Every time I watch the Rams that's the first thing I've noticed. Suh is doubled on every play and Donald is singled a ton.

Said the same thing last light about Suh always taking on a double. I’m not sure it’s smart to leave him one on one a lot.

I even saw suh line up at DE and then instead of rushing he would just go hit james white. They took white out of the game.

Don't forget the Rams also have Michael Brockers who was the 14th pick in the first round in the 2012 draft and a very good NFL DT. Brockers is 6'6 while Suh is 6'4.

That is one of the reasons I just smirk at the stupidity of some of the commentators when they talk about Suh's "lack of production" earlier in the season. His job wasn't to generate stats. He's been doing the dirty work eating double teams.

People don’t underatand how symbiotic these things are. He does his job and Tom Brady being off last night was an example of their success..

So the Guy ( Donald) had 21 sacks and is never doubled?? Yea not buying it.
Nobody said that. The Pats however were in fact doubling Suh and leaving Donald one on one at least part of the time. You couldn't always see from the TV angles who was where but I saw several times where in fact they did that to Suh. I never really noticed Donald getting doubled but no doubt it happened depending on the play and line calls. The flip side of your comment is that if Donald had 21 sacks, he had help in that feat. Suh is a dominant DT and has been called by several NFL commentators lately a HOF shoo in..

reading comprehension is lacking....

That’s what you call a guy going right to the extreme. Is NEVER doubled?? Well for one, dude has 20 plus sacks....so.....no.....I doubt he was doubled very often. You don’t get that many sacks being doubled a lot. Two: you almost HAVE to double Suh or he will beat you constantly up front. Way to strong, lightning on his first step and so on. But again, you don’t get 20 or more sacks being doubled all the time. That happens when they are doubling another player.

One of the replays from the game showed a linebacker stepping up to blitz next to Donald, forcing the lineman to go up against the LB. this allowed Donald to be one on one, and at the snap the LB backed off.

It was too late for the lineman to help block Donald. Shows how smart Phillips is to get Donald as many one on one matchups as possible.

Schemes matter.

That was a very good play and the LB sold the hell out of it..

Would love to see him next to big Fletcher Cox in Philly. Cox > Donald IMO

As an Eagles fan, I was thinking the same thing. With Long or Graham....or both potentially gone, Suh would be a great one/two year signing. Add Barnett back the mix and the defensive front would be dangerous.

Still probably need another edge guy, though.

Oh....I didn't forget about him....dude had a hell of a season. I was more or less mentioning the guys that the Eagles were missing up front, than the ones that were there. I still think they'll need someone else on the edge if both Long and Graham are gone. Moreso for depth than anything. Add Suh into that mix and that would be a scary good front.

Also, it would also be nice to have Jernigan stay healthy for a full season.

Agreed. A speed rusher off the edge would be yuuuuge.

That loss was squarely on Sean McVay and the Rams OL. Wade Phillips held the greatest QB of all time to 13 points. If you had told anyone the Pats only scored 13 points they would have thought the game would've been a blow out for the Rams.

All of the sudden, I see the Rams need help in the offensive line. Three will be at least ten year vets next season.
