Asante is visiting NU for an official visit this weekend. He visited FSU last week and enjoyed it(I enjoyed going to FSU as a 18 yr old too). but the visit to NU means he has not made up his mind yet. I wonder what this says about our chances with fonua and parker. I would guess we might be out on atleast one and maybe both.

Larry and Ruud played together in Tampa. Hopefully it's not just a token visit for his brother.

He's not 6-4 250 though
Neither is Breon Dixon but was identified by this staff also. Lavonte David is 6’1”. Water is wet, what’s your point?
You would rather use the scholarship on a grad transfer at this point?
He’s being brought in... I have zero problem of a guy that is being recruited by FSU, NC, Virginia Tech at this point
It’s closing time and I don’t see the downside here to bringing in a guy like Asante at this point. I don’t see NU having New England Patriots sized OLB as of yet Tuco
Domann was effective late last year and he’s roughly the same stature as Asante

Obviously you haven't read my posts about this subject.

The person who this was directed toward, got the point.

He is a major troll, just here to contradict opinions and never present one. We recruiting 40 people for OLB and 34 of them are over 6-4, the staff has said they value height at the posiiton but ol Puto Salamander says we dont need them.

Shaq Griffin is 6’ also, I don’t know what the whole 6’4 thing is about, I know that the staff values height and length. I like that they have a blue print to recruit to by and large.
We’ll find out soon enough if Asante has interest/staff have legitimate interest in him

Thats all I way saying.. they are trying to recruit height at the position but wont pass up talent either. If somebody if under 6-3 they have to have a special skill set. We value height at ILB as well but that doesnt mean Barry isnt our best player. Henrich or Hannah could also see time at OLB if it makes our team better. Asante could be an ILB for as well in the same mold as Barry.

This right here is all that is wrong with this message board. Take your soap opera feud with one person to the DMs instead of requiring everyone to read all of yours/his/her posts to know what the hell you’re talking about. Nobody cares.

As for OLB, you can’t win em all. Take whatever is available at this point. Is Asante a hitter like his bro? This staff seems to like those and so do I!

I think that Asante would be an ILB. Which is good because Barry is a Sr., and Honas is a Jr.. Then we have two high ceiling TFR's, and a Miller who doesn't seem to bring much. Snodgrass would then slide outside which seems a more natural fit.

Asante's film is very good, he is a very instinctive player and plays sideline to sideline.

I think we are still in a very good place with Parker.

FYI as much as I very very much like both Henrich and Hannah, I don't think the staff wants to play players the entire game without some rotation. Asante not only offers that, but brings a bit different talent to the position.

You are what is wrong with message boards. You think you get to police them because you have a different opinion. If you don't like what I say, put me on ignore.

But until I am told by Kaz or someone else in charge, and not some self appointed board police, I will continue to post what I want and when I want, and will keep it within the board rules.

Now, be gone with your bad self.

I think Asante stays outside, assuming he even signs with Nebraska and not VT.

As more and more teams in the conference continue to transition to spread offenses, you will have to have some smaller OLBs that can play both the run, and cover a dude like JD or Rondale Moore in the slot.

That’s a good point and a would be a good Board topic, which schools currently have spread offense in BIG and which ones are transitioning to that.

Iowa and Michigan are the only remaining schools not using predominantly spread designs. MSU began transitioning to a more spread based design in the last two years. I struggle defining Wisconsin as a true Pro Style offense, the haven't had a QB that could really make them one, though the kid they have recruited this cycle will elevate their team. Too bad they don't have receivers to supply that option effectivelyLaughing

Pro based systems are disappearing all across the CFP, and even the NFL is more and more incorporating spread concepts.

I really like Asante’s film. Dude has speed and brings it.
I think most of our LBs could get looks at ILB/OLB, which is fine. Bring in the pieces first, then work on the best fit for the puzzle.

Yeah, that simply isn't true. According to 247, we've offered 31 OLBs. 27 of them are under 6'4.

If you include the WDE, that would probably be 3-4 OLBs, we've offered 28 and 7 of them are under 6'4.

Add them together and we've offered 59 OLB/WDE and 34 of them are under 6'4. That means well over half are under 6'4. Your point is false.

3-4 OLB are WDE..there is no category for 3-4 OLB..dont have time to look through all our offers..but the staff has said it on plenty of occasions. OLB could be recruiting for ILB for us, OLB position on sites is basically 4-3 OLB..ill let puto and his following run with this one. Guy from rivals just said he thinks NU is recruiting Asante for ILB but what does he know..keep sniffing tucos butt

Right, People get so caught up into position. In 2 years we could have Henrich(ILB), Farmer(S) at outside LB, and Dixon(OLB), and Hannah(OLB) at inside..you recruit good players and find where they fit best for you. Just from last years class we have seen a WR turned OLB, and tight end tried at DL and moved to Center.

You could have a lot of things happen. I can predict crazy **** to go down and then when one of those things comes to fruition claim, see I told you.

Hannah is already going to be inside. He and Henrich are both inside guys. You might see Snodgrass move outside but I am not sure that would be a great move.

So Pappoe was being recruited as an ILB? You are claiming that all the OLB's that are offered ILBs, correct? If so, that means we've offered 49 ILBs and only 28 WDE (which are OLBs). Seems crazy to offer so few OLBs when it is such a great need. Especially when we landed two ILBs in June and July (and Snodgrass, if be is going to be an ILB, was landed well before that).

Or maybe you just can't admit that you're wrong.

And I am the one who told you about the HOL podcast that mentioned Asante possibly being looked at as an ILB in another thread. So yeah, I know.

Must mean we're out of it with Parker and Fonua.

Not necessarily, we could be just recruiting everyone we are in on until one commits. He’s been planning on visiting for months now and until one or two OLB commits, why not let him come?? Sounds like we have a good shot at landing either one of these 3 OLBs. I still have trouble seeing Parker liking Kansas over us, I just can’t see that. Maybe Miles sales himself and point out him accomplishments but heck, Frost can pretty much match that, maybe not overall record yet. And I don’t see Kansas’s stadium, facilities and all that for the football program being at our levels but I have no clue....maybe them being a blue blood basketball program, maybe they keep those at elite levels too. I guess we will see In a week or so.

Parker likes KU because of Emmett Jones (assistant coach who was previously at TT and former head coach at his high school). He de-committed from TT because Jones left for Kansas. I think this relationship will win out in the end for KU.

This relationship is the reason Ku is in it and he may well end up there. But I think many on this board fail to realize what a great job our staff has done recruiting him, they have formed a strong relationship and many recruiting guys think we lead. Sure that could change after his visit to KU, but we are in good spot with him right now.

I could be wrong but I think if the relationship with the coach who is now at KU was the deciding factor then he would have committed to KU already.
