Everyone not named Alabama or LSU has a hard time. There a few great ones available.

This ^^. It’s an area that is challenging for most schools to recruit. A small reason why teams play the 3-4 is so that they don’t have to recruit as many DT’s. They are tough to come by but when you do have them, they can dictate the outcomes of games (‘09 team).

We haven't, the only issue I have is no NT last year and that is on Diaco (Riley) since we could have had Calvin Avery but he was Diaco'd and he moved along and didn't look back . It was a valiant effort but too late for Frost, Dawson and Ruud to flip BWilliams and I actually have to respect him for sticking to his commit even though it would be great to have him as well.

All else has gone pretty well.

Pelini had several good defensive linemen and I think this years class is very good. Nebraska was hurt in almost every position for 3 years with no development.

I don't think it's a DL recruiting issue, but it is an NT recruiting issue. I'm on my phone typing this so can't check easily, but have we signed a high school NT since Damion Daniel's a few years ago? I guess maybe Piper counts if he doesn't play OG. Seems odd that we weren't able to land a true NT in this class (so far, and not including the elder Daniel's transfer).

I think we have a really good group of DL recruits this year. In the Riley years, DL recruiting and development was pretty bleak, but in recent years we have had NFL guys like: Collins, Valentine, Gregory.

After Turner, Crick, Suh, etc... we got some dudes in like Maliek Collins and Vincent Valentine, but we became unstable at that position. When Kaz got booted, Hughes came in and sucked. Collins and Valentine bailed for the NFL. Hughes didn’t recruit at all for one year. Then Parella was brought in. Riley ran a 4-3 one year (which Parella recruited guys to... Deontre Thomas, etc). Then Riley brought in Diaco who micromanaged what Parella could teach and they moved to a 3-4. That required completely different players that what we needed for the 4-3. So Parella tried to find those guys but it was hard because they were losing so much and a lot of people thought Riley would be gone. Sure enough Parella gets booted and now Chinander comes in with Dawson and they have like 3-4 weeks to recruit/hold onto commits. They bagged Wildeman, found Rogers, but that’s about all they could do with most guys off the board. This is the first full cycle with coaching stability and a consistent system that we have had in like 5 years. That’s what’s been wrong with D Line recruiting.
This year, they managed to grab 4 pretty good players with body types they need and high upsides. If Dawson stays and Chin stays and we keep some stability/consistency we will be back with strong line play and good depth in a couple of years.

Great news ... we don’t play Alabama, LSU or Clemson. Let’s take baby steps and set a goal of not getting man handled by Iowa

We already did that. Iowa had to beat us with a last second field goal and that was year 1 for Scott Frost. We will only get better and it will get harder and harder for Iowa to even keep up with us let alone beat us. We are good there thanks.
