And meanwhile Jacobson...

Good for him. I mean if you could play for Iowa state or Nebraska, which would you choose.

If Roby was smart he would have loaded up on classes this semester and summer to pull an Andrew White.

That is of course assuming Miles is still the Nebrasketball coach next year.

and your point is? EVERY team has kids with liabilities with things they CAN do to help you win....
So NU lost a road game so now we're back to this team sucks I guess. I said it when he left but I think he was shooting less than 30% from 3 for us. Jacobsen was a nice role player for us and we were going to miss him more than Morrow. That said, the thing that KILLED us against Rutgers was our foul shooting. Palmer is near the top of the B1G free throw shooting and he was visibly shaken at the line last night. Once again we got pushed around in the paint and our opponent had some unlikely heroes get hot from outside.:(

Slow feet and he gets pushed around down low if he's at the 5. He would have gotten man handled by 3 of Rutgers's big men just like Roby and Copeland did.
I didn't see the game, but I think Jacobsen's much tougher and more physical than Roby & Cope with better footwork, leverage and feel for the low post game. Roby and Cope don't want to be down there and are only willing to do it because it may enhance their NBA future. That's my take anyway-- based on what I've seen.

Definitely more physical than Copeland. People don't realize how skinny Copeland is. Roby may be a little smaller than Jacobsen, but he's much more athletic with more bounce and longer arms. I'll take Roby every day of the week over Jacobsen. Not even close. Copeland does NOT have an NBA future.

not saying Jacobsen is an NBA player...but he IS starting for a team better than ours....
Is he starting now? He was coming off the bench I thought. He would have helped us immensely this year BUT we were still going to get pushed around by Rutgers even with a Jacobsen in the line up. He made the choice and was willing to sit out a year. We don't know why he made that choice for sure. Most say he didn't like his role having to play the 5 so much. He's still playing the 5 a bunch for ISU. Some say that he didn't like how disrespectful Nebraskans are to his home state of Iowa and that played a factor. The bottomline for me is that while this is still the most talented team we've had since Nee, we're still missing some key pieces (2 bigs) and we don't have remotely enough depth to hold up.

Your last line kind of sums it up...

He is starting and is a strong contributor for the Clones. He would have helped this team no doubt.

As someone who closely watches B12 hopes and ISU, I can tell you that Jacobson is a pretty solid five at 13 and 6 but not an elite big in this conference. He fills a hole but also gets abused on defense. If Huskers are suggesting he'd have been a savior in Lincoln, I don't think so from what I've seen to this point in time.

Just due to our lack of size and bench depth, he would have helped this team immensely. Not a savior, just a really nice role player.
