This is such a head scratcher. You do this when you have a 60+ year old coach who is planning to retire. Bo is too young. So he either believes he has another job in his future or will be fired in which case I don’t think the school would want to keep a brother. Anyway. Just odd.

I mainly wish we didn’t have to read about these thugs any longer but we are forced to because they were here.

Aren't we done paying him next month, finally?
Pretty much explains why Bo can’t be named coaching some place else right now and why Carl is HC in waiting. Bo would lose that last paycheck from NU or at least part of it. Financially, it makes complete sense for Bo to hush hush on leaving YSU until the NU contract is complete.

And we knew this was alaways going to be the case. If Bo didn’t take another job next month, his annual income was about to drop dramatically and don’t forget Bo has one of the most aggressive agents in the game

Wonder what D-cord job he took? What’s going on in Norman now of days?

Seems odd that his older brother would be his future successor.

Has this been confirmed??

Yeah I was thinking the exact same thing. Makes no sense unless Bo is going to "retire". Like you said he is too young and I don't see him getting any other HC job. Unless he leaves for higher profile assistant job. Chance of that is slim as well. Maybe he just wants to be done with football.

Ya, the timing made me suspicious.

Didn't Saban's defensive coordinator just leave?

I would pay to see Saban chewing Bo's *** on the sidelines.
That would be funny as hell. Bama fans would riot.

Unfortunately, BP might be pretty good with all that talent coming out his ***.

I think Bo Pelini would be best being a defensive coordinator in the NFL. If he is honest with himself he would admit he hates recruiting and would like fewer media coverage than at Nebraska.

Here’s a great one. Carl got named the coach in waiting when Bo leaves YSU. I’m sure Bo has one foot out the door and when his last NU payment comes he’s gone.

Nothing bad can happen at YSU with Carl taken over in the future. lol I figured Bo would want a raise when his severance runs out next month. Where is a good fit for him? He should be an assistant in the NFL like Callahan.

Is there a fan base in the world that is more concerned about ex coaches getting their contractually obligated money? And I am not calling you two posters out, you just posted information.
I had a hunch that out of spite Bo would wait until after his severance is done before getting a bigger paying job. I wish him well though. I think he can reinvent himself like Callahan did as an assistant in the NFL.

Out of spite? Out of intelligence.

Shoot, we would all do that. Lets see...take a decent job with nice pay in your hometown doing what you love WHILE getting paid major biscuits from your last job OR work your *** off trying to get a better gig with more stress located god knows where with less job security.

I mean, it is a no brainer.

That is one hell of an impressive record that Bo has put together Youngstown State. I can imagine he can name about any high school he wants to coach at.

In all seriousness, nothing surprises me in college football head coach hirings. The fact that somebody is willing to pay Mike Riley something after his failed career shows any halfwit has a chance.

The fraternity of coaches basically have a code...

I will hire you because I know someday I will need you (or a buddy of yours) to hire me. They rarely burn bridges with each other and it seems like if anything...they are almost in collusion with each other with the BroCode.

It makes sense and it is a brilliant move on their part.

Bo burned every bridge out of town. Every.
